The Huawei Watch GT 3 has been around since last year, now a fancier Pro model arrives. Like the GT 2 Pro before it, this one has a ceramic version and a Porsche Design model as well. If you prefer something cheaper and less conspicuous, there is a new smart band as well.
Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro
The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro comes in two sizes – 46 mm (titanium) and 43 mm (ceramic). They have 1.43” and 1.32” AMOLED displays, respectively. The larger model promises up to 14 days of battery life with typical usage (8 days for heavy users), the smaller one should last 7 days (4 days with heavy use). Charge speed has been increased by 30% and a 10 minute top up should be enough to last you the full day.Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro: 46 mm titanium and 43 mm ceramic versions
Water resistance numbers tend to be deceptive and most smartwatches are not suitable for diving. This one is, however, as it is rated for free diving up to 30m and has several functions to help you train. The Watch GT 3 Pro is certified for free diving up to 30m and has hundreds of golf courses preloaded
The GT 3 Pro is also usable as a golf watch as it has maps for 300+ golf courses pre-loaded. In total, there are over a 100 sports modes of which 18 modes are labeled “professional”.
The watch has an ECG sensor on board, which provides much more heart data than a typical heart rate sensor. There is also a blood-oxygen monitor and a thermometer, the watch also features sleep and stress tracking.ECG sensor on board for advanced health tracking
The watch runs HarmonyOS, of course, and features NFC for the typical mobile payment use cases, but with the right vehicle it can also double as your car key as well. The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro can replace your car keys
The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro (46 mm, titanium) starts at CNY 2,500 ($380/€360/₹29,000). It has a sapphire glass and a ceramic back. The 43 mm ceramic version starts at CNY 3,000 ($455/€430/₹35,000) and also has sapphire glass. You can get either a leather strap (calfskin) or a ceramic bracelet. Finally, there is the Porsche Design model for CNY 4,700 ($710/€680/₹55,000), which is paired with a patented invisible butterfly buckle for the strap.30% faster charging • Fancy patented clasp for the Porsche Design model
The 46 mm titanium version goes on pre-order in China today, if you want the 43 mm ceramic one you will have to wait until May 4 to pre-order one, the Porsche Design arrives a day later. All three go on sale on May 5.
Huawei Band 7
If you want something more discrete – and more importantly something cheaper – the Huawei Band 7 offers a lot of bang for the buck. Easy when it costs just CNY 270 ($40/€39/₹3,100).
The band measures only 9.99 mm thick, thinner than most smart bands, and weighs 16g. Even so, it has enough juice in its battery to last 14 days of typical usage. There is an Always On function if you want at-a-glance info, but that will drain the battery faster.
The band has a 1.47” AMOLED display (194 x 368 px). For comparison, Xiaomi’s Mi Smart Band 6 has a 1.56” display (152x 486 px) and is 12.7 mm thick. Anyway, the Huawei band can be had in one of four colorways: Black, Red, Green and Pink (with a gold bezel).
Besides the usual heart rate monitoring, there is a blood-oxygen sensor on board, which can work overnight to detect signs of sleep apnea. The band has a 5 ATM water resistance rating and features 96 sports modes.
There are two versions of the band – the base CNY 270 model and a slightly pricier CNY 310 option with NFC support.
