I have cingular 8125 which is similar to k-jam but diff looks. It came with office mobile (new name for pocket office). Office mobile includes Word mobile, Excel mobile, Power Point viewer. K-jam and Qtek-9100 also come with Office Mobile. See review here at http://gsmarena.com/review.php3?idReview=60&idPage=5
Hi All, I just bought Cingular 8125 which is basically same as K-jam under the hood just different body on outside. Itís a great phone with cool features. Right now I am testing all the features to make sure they are working fine.
Spec says itís got IrDA port. I want to verify that its working without any issues but problem is I canít find it! I donít see any setting option like bluetooth nor I see any kind of indicator on the body for IrDA port. Any one knows how to test/use IrDA on k-jam/8125? I have another phone which has got IrDA and bluetooth both. When I turn on IrDA on that phone it shows read icon on the screen. Want to connect it with 8125 to test. Pl help.
Just wondering if it comes with 'pocket office', or if that has to be loaded seperately?
any k-jam user please if u have downloaded the real player on ur k-jam, can u kindly inform me about it's performance?
is it even possible to download real player on k-jam? please reply as soon as possible, i am planning to buy it and i have many real audio files which i want to have on it.
thanks a million
I have now owned the K-Jam for 4 months. It is a great device, couple of caveats for the new users or potential buyers.
1) Reboot issues - everyone I know that has the K-Jam has found it to reboot. Call it windows or what...it will reboot (when it feels like it). Frustrating as it takes so long to boot up
2) Speaker and Mic failure - the speaker and microphone have recently failed, meaning I can only make calls using the earpiece. needs to be sent off to tech support. Has this happened to anyone???? This also happen to another user the week after it happen to me.
3) Wi-fi really sucks the battery - this is to be expected, just don't leave it on when you don't need it
4) Memory - does not take well to not closing down apps correctly. You may find yourself closing down apps that run in the backgroud. Close down all apps propoerly where possible
All up it is a good phone.
Answer to Nat:
the kjam does have a handwriting recognition, u just tap on the keyboard icon, wait like 2 secs then a menu appears with several types on handwriting recognition, u can have more info in the owner's manual. P.S: in the Notes application, u can select Menu, Tools, Recognize to transform ur handwriting into typed characters.
I have a 1GB mini SD card in my MDA and it works just fine. The camera is not the best that I have seen, but this technology has come a long way, it still has a way to go before I start leaving my camera behind. Ok in a pinch, video is cool and the flashlight option is kinda cool. Wi-Fi, bluetooth, Ir all work flawlessly, speakers are decent too, much better that my old iPAQ 6315. The screen is bright and the battery life is so - so, I can get about a day and a half before it is ready to die completely. Still cannot get Avantgo to work correctly, nor can I get Microsoft reader to work. I can load the application, but you cannot activate it for some reason, the activation site keeps giving me the message that my software version is too old, go figure? The Microsoft fix does not work eiter. Good luck from that stand point. Still think the phone is much better than the reviews that I have read.
I am currently using the TMo version of the KJam HTC Wizzard, whatever MDA Vario. I love the unit, it is function packed and finally WM 5.0 has resolved some long standing issues. The form factor (sliding keyboard) is very cool, I am over 6 feet tall and my hands can easily type up IM stuff and update work notes on the fly, you need two hands but I am okay with that. I upgraded from a HP 6315 and it is a nice change, one for the better, the MDA is smaller lighter and a better phone and PDA. When I am operating the unit with the keyboard out its like using a tiny laptop, again cool. The voice recognition software is the best that I have ever used, heck I spent years training my Natrually Speaking software and it was never this good. You can really take advantage of hands free operation because you can operate everything from this format. Contacts, Calander, Word, tons of funcitionality, I love it! Yes, the processor is small and somewhat underpowered, but with the addition of a 1GB mini SD card, (cannot use the old SD collection from the 6315, bummer!) it moves along at a pretty decent pace. Watch out for program additions, I had to do a hard reset to resolve a active sync issue that I believe was due to some old applications that I tried to load from my old unit. Now that I am using only WM 5.0 software it seems to like me. Too many features to list in one review. No bundled software applications on the installation disk, (those days are gone) but all in all I really love this thing, you will need to get a backup program because active sync 4.1 does not have that capability anymore.
Was given one of these for work recently. I also have an iPaq h4150 for my personal life. I have to say that the 200mhz processor is too slow for what these units are designed for. Even with just the Phone app, Active Sync and outlook running, it's very slow to make or answer phone calls. The other pain is having to extend the stylus to use it - even then it's just a bit too short to use with comfort. The keyboard is very nice, but it's annoying how some functions just aren't accessible using either the keyboard or hardware buttons. For instance you can do JUST ABOUT everything email related, but to change from inbox to sent items you need the stylus. If this unit had a 400mhz CPU, and total stylus free operation for us button addicts I'd buy it, but as it is it's not worth the money.
I have to configure the DNS on my K-JAM but he lets me insert only 2 digits for each group ex. i have to insert 222.345.678.xxx on my you can only insert 11.34.xx.xx. Someone can help me?
Keyboard- Ok, so this isnt a rough and tough phone. If you drop it down a flight of stairs then yes, it will break. But after using it to type an assignment, (computer issues) I have still found no problems with it.
Hanging and being slow- There is a truth to this. If you have 60 programs running at once in the background then yes, it will be slow. but this is only when you are surfing the web, writing emails and playing games at once.
Battery- I live with another guy who has a Jam, my battery actually out lasts his battery 4 out of 5 times. Yet I use mine far more. Battery for me usually lasts 2-3 days.
Any questions just email me.
Dear Kjam users. Could any of you tell me if the unit has a handwriting recognition function? It is not included under the unit specifications and I am not sure why. Thank you!
Dears, pleae anyone help me to decide: I want to buy a JAM or K-JAM, but i am confused about which one to choose, there are few points that makes me worry:
1- Is the Battery life for K-Jam good or not ( comparing with JAM)?
2- Is it true that the K-JAM very slow and hang somtimes?
3- Is it true that the Keyboard and slide broken after a while of usage?
Please help me and answer me quickly by e-mail if possible, thanks.
Hey guys, I am havin problems connecting to the internet via gprs. I cannot find the settings to change it from the wifi to gprs.
Can any one help me please? you can email me at email@example.com. Thanks
Best phone so far.WIFI good ,contacts ok,voice clarity, not too heavy and the 195 MHZ works like a breeze.Tips:avoid sync problems by disabling your firewalls, then sync seamlessly.Mine has skype pre-installed.NO REGRETS.
Ive had the KJam for 2 months now and its for sale. After pulling my hair out trying to get activesync working i finally figured out that you need to enable tcp/ip in the dial up networking on your pc for this device. The reason i bought it was to use msn messenger but unfortunately msn is so buggy on this device its unusable. My old hp 4350 never skips a beat with msn over gprs or 3g data connections. There is no help on the imate web site for any of these issues.
Im going back to my faithfull HP device.
The phone currently supports only B. However the i-mate Kjam site says that it will support G after a ROM update to be released free of charge sometime this year from club i-mate.
