Smartphone shipments in India reached a record-high of 39 million units in Q3 2017, data by analyst company IDC reveals. The amount is 40% higher than the previous quarter and 21% more than Q3 2016.

Xiaomi tied Samsung for the leading spot in the Top 5 manufacturer list, each company having 23.5%.

The overall success of the market is mostly due to online festivals that happened in August and September. While last year Xiaomi shipped 32% of all online devices, this time the percentage rose to 37%. Its offline expansion is also getting a good response from customers.

All top 5 vendors managed double digit growth. With Samsung and Xiaomi on top, in third came Lenovo after a couple of new launches under the Motorola brand. vivo was fourth came with an impressive 153% annual growth and 8.5% share, while Oppo managed ti take the fifth position with 7.9%.

Their phones will always be expensive because their flagships sell very well in other countries, mainly the western ones and in their home country as well.
