It's official: the CMF Phone 2 Pro is coming later this month (yes, "Pro")

Nothing CMF Android

Last week, Nothing teased the next CMF phone, but didn’t offer many details besides alluding to an improved camera. Today, the company has announced that an event on April 28 will bring not just the phone, but a trio of TWS buds too.

Interestingly, the phone is called CMF Phone 2 Pro – yes, “Pro”. This suggests that it will target a higher spot in the market than the original CMF phone. That matches up with the supposed camera improvements – the 50+2MP camera was the weak spot of the CMF Phone 1.

New wonderful things.

Does that mean that there will be a vanilla CMF Phone 2 like with the Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro? Maybe, we will find out on April 28.

The event will also bring three new TWS buds: the CMF Buds 2, Buds 2a and Buds 2 Plus. There are already CMF Buds Pro 2, which launched last year.

Going back to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, here’s an extreme closeup. This post promises “a new finish”, but the screws on the back show that the back will still be removable.

A new finish. Textured, tactile, different.

What else do we know about the phone? Rumors suggest that it will be a small phone with a 6.3” display (OLED, 1080p+, 120Hz) with a Dimensity 7400 chipset (the old one had the 7300) and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging. When that rumor came out, it referred to the phone as “CMF Phone 2” with no mention of “Pro”.

It seems a bit odd that a small phone will be called “Pro”, so maybe that leak really was for the non-Pro model. Even so, the 6.3” diagonal is odd, considering that the original had a 6.67” display and that parent company Nothing is not interested in small phones.

By the way, the start time for the April 28 event is given as “2:00 BST”, suggesting that the event will be held in the UK.
