JCB Android Announcement

JCB - the British heavy equipment manufacturer - is back on the smartphone scene with two new rugged Android phones. The JCB Toughphone and Toughphone Max are both MIL-SPEC 810G compliant and feature an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance at up to 1.5m of water for 30 minutes. The new devices feature a hardened polycarbonate frame and back with metal elements.

JCB Toughphone features a 5.7-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch housing its 20MP front facing camera. Toughphone Max brings a larger 6.67-inch IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution and a 20MP selfie cam housed inside a punch hole cutout. Both devices feature Gorilla Glass protected screens with a rubber rim for added drop protection and pre-applied glass screen protectors.

Toughphone brings a single 20MP rear camera and an LED flash while Toughphone Max is outfitted with a 48MP main cam, a 16MP ultrawide module, a 2MP macro cam and a VGA module.

Both Toughphones are powered by MediaTek chipsets - Helio P22 on the Teoughphone alongside 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, and Dimensity 700 on the Toughphone Max (8/256GB). JCB Toughphone features a 4,050 mAh battery while its Max sibling ups the ante to a 12,200 mAh cell which is rated at up to 30 days standby. Toughphone boots Android 13 while Toughphone Max is shipping with Android 12.

JCB Toughphone is available to order for £300 while Toughphone Max is priced at £600. Deliveries start from mid-July.

Just used google lens to see what phones they slapped this badge on. Only took 2 seconds to see the Phonemax M1 and the phonemax P10 seems to be the cheaper siblings of the JCB branded ones. You can import these for half the price, probably also with...

the ge8320 on p35 was better but not too much. they are capable of mainstream games, works better in medium low setting. though it is just an souped up p22.
