LG adds K62 and K52 to its lineup with 6.6" screens and 48MP quad cameras

LG Android Announcement

LG is adding three new models to its affordable K-series – well, two new models, technically. They all feature 6.6” displays, quad cameras and 4,000 mAh batteries, plus they aspire to be rugged (if not quite successfully).

The three will be available in Europe starting in October, then LG will bring them to “key markets” in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

LG K62

The LG K62 sets the tone for the trio. It has a 6.6” LCD with 1080p+ resolution (20:9) that will help you create and consume content – these phones are meant for a young, sociable audience.

The a 48MP camera on the back can start a YouTube Live stream straight from the camera app. There is also a 5 MP ultra wide shooter (115°) and two 2 MP modules (macro and depth). AI CAM recommends the optimal camera settings for the scene and subject matter.

The 28 MP selfie camera is exclusive to the K62, it is located in a punch hole in the screen. This model also gets the most storage, 128 GB, which is expandable via the microSD card.

The phone is powered by an unnamed chipset (2.3 GHz octa-core CPU) with 4 GB of RAM. It runs Android 10 out of the box and there’s a Google Assistant button on its side. Also on the side is the fingerprint reader.

The new K-series trio passed eight categories of MIL-STD-810G testing: high/low temperature, temperature shock, vibration, shock and humidity. That doesn’t make them particularly rugged as they weren’t tested for drops and they are certainly not water resistant.

Like the other three, the K62 has a 4,000 mAh battery that is charged over USB-C (the port has USB 3.1 Gen 1 connectivity).

LG K52

The LG K52 takes the K62 formula and swaps the selfie camera with a 13 MP module. Also, the storage capacity drops in half to 64 GB, but you still get a microSD slot and 4 GB of RAM. Everything else is identical.

Both the K52 and K62 have a fingerprint-resistant matte finish on the back. The K52 will be available in White, Red and Blue.

LG K42

The LG K42 was unveiled a couple of days ago, but it fits right in with the other two models. It cuts some of the specs down, e.g. the 6.6” display now only has 720p+ resolution and the octa-core CPU drops to 2.0 GHz. Also the main rear camera has a 13 MP sensor while the selfie cam gets an 8 MP sensor.

Everything else – save for the price, which we still don’t know – is the same.

I'm not sure if it's a normal Flash. It looks more like Xenon flash light. Can you please confirm? If it's Xenon, I'm definitely gonna buy this despite of other specifications it has. I know the importance of Xenon flash.
