I bought my G4 new at a discount 18 months ago, the 5th LG phone I've had since my Nexus 5. It had the features I wanted and at half its original price was too good to pass up.
Over the G2 it replaced the first thing I noticed was the significant improvement in call audio, much clearer and louder. The camera is still above average at 2160p, and the music playback quality is about as good as I think I've had on any device I've owned. The nav button slider is something I like a lot and any phone I buy in future will need to have a variation on this feature. I also noticed that the screen was much brighter than my previous phone.
After all this I don't completely understand why the battery life was so poor. I got a larger replacement battery and this is holding up well after about a year. I had a minor issue with overheating but this is now less usual (probably thanks to updates) although it can get a bit warm if I look at maps for more than a couple of minutes.
I'm deciding when I might want to replace it. The key issue here is probably going to be battery life and that the next phone will need an upgraded camera at 2160p. I don't think I'm in a hurry to do that yet though. When I do it is probably going to be another LG model as I've always found these to be good quality - I've never broken an LG screen - reliable and, in the UK, affordable.

I've had this phone for 2.5 years. Bought it when G5 came out and got a good discount since it became "previous model". The 3GB RAM ensures it can keep up with the newer apps. Had issues with it unable to end calls at times, and I had to force a restart by pulling out the battery. But an update to the system software later resolved this.
Had been using it heavily and I have no complaints really. I'm buying a new battery and hope to squeeze at least another 12 months with this phone.

I bought my lg g4 a second hand, everything works fine but waking up the screen is a problem, i will double tap d screen but it doesn't come up, i will click d power button but still will not work, even if a call comes in,it will ring but the screen will still be off, but if i plug a charger or remove the battery and put it back den it will come up, even if d battery is full it still happens.pls is there any solution for this? Help.
The truth about the LG G4 is dramatic and potentially tragic for data that isn't thoroughly backed-up. The G4 has an inherently faulty motherboard that freezes in the well known "boot loop," and then can crash completely. I've had two (because of warranty replacement) and the only LG fix is to wipe your phone and start over, with less reliability than before, and none of your lost data retrievable! Stay away!!
very good performace
good display
low price
camera is not much good for low light but in day light it is very good
battery timing is normal
restarting problem is very common in this phone that leads to dead board
planned upgrade to 7.0 (Nougat)>>>> where this planed for 3 years ????? i have 6 ver. and wait 3 year the planned upgrade to 7.0 (Nougat)

Check out this topic at XDA for installing it on any H815 variant: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/h815-nougat-stock-t3659860
You will have to unlock your bootloader but this is easy (you just have to register an account at LG and perform a few simple steps with the phone connected to a computer), the unlock will be sent to you by email. Then you can flash the update. I have installed it today and it works great.

For safe and lasting use always check the running of unwanted applications which drain battery. LG G4 is the best smart phone if using carefully.
I had my LG G4 H815 since 2015 and I'm still using it till now as my primary phone (my other phone is iphone 6). The thing I like most about this phone since I first bought it is its camera, both front and back. I it is very good in low light conditions plus the wide lens for the selfies has always been very good when taking group selfies. Also the manual controls give it a sense of using a pro camera although I scarcely use this mode. I hardly faced heating problems, I guess a few times in the last 3 years, which were all related to serious heating, like leaving the phone in direct sunlight in the summer or playing an intensive game like need for speed for more than an hour in a poorly air conditioned room and so. Battery life is average, but the fact that it has removable battery is very satisfying, since I got this phone it was a promotion that I got with it an extra battery with an external charger, so I almost never leave the phone wired to the charger (actually I got used to this, and now all new phones have built in batteries so I'm kind of stuck in here) instead I charge the other battery and exchange batteries.
Although I am generally satisfied with this phone that I thought about buying another new one that is dual sim (I finally decided not) but I have to mention that I faced the following problems in the first year:
1- Suddenly the screen stopped displaying properly giving strange colors then turned totally black. The service center said it was a faulty screen which is a rare condition and almost no one had this issue and exchanged for me within the warranty.
2- The popular bootloop issue: I faced it after around 6 months from buying the phone, the service center said it is a common issue in early editions which have specific serial numbers and mine was one of these. The problem was something related to the mother board and they got it changed within the warranty.
3- The phone fell over the carpet while vibrating and since then it stopped vibrating. The service center changed the vibrator motor within the warranty.
Generally the service center (in Egypt) was very professional and helpful, and they solved all the problems without much debates, however it is not good to have to leave a new phone at the service center 3 times in the first year even if you'll pay nothing because you're still in warranty.
The funny thing is that I never faced any serious problems after the warranty has expired, even though in the last year (after more than 2 years of extensive usage) the double tap to unlock is becoming harder (this is an LG feature where you can turn on the display without pressing the unlock button instead you double tap the screen).
Finally I have to say that generally I am a good phone user, usually my phones last for years before they breakdown. The last phone I had before the G4 was a Samsung S4 which was very good for the first 6 months but got worse after every OS update, battery getting worse, performance getting much worse to the extent of getting over my nerves. The phone before it was also a Samsung Galaxy Mini that went dead after one and half years. Before it I had a Nokia N80 that lasted for 4 years until it was totally dead.

The battery problem was getting out of hand. The phone has an excellent display and camera setup, but the battery couldn't handle the Snapdragon and the extreme display.
In result to that in summer days using navigation in the car led to overheating and the phone was switching off by itself to cool down.
Battery life is a nightmare, never was able to get a day long experience without charging.

Never had over heating issues apart from playing games which is normal in all devices. First it starts acting strange when i try to use camera flash as torch and after few weeks camera stop working and then after few weeks my screen shows garbage characters and then bootloop starts couple of times and then it turns off and never recovered. I took it for repair but it doesn't work. Now it's laying in my drawer RIP. I think sooner or later all lg g4 might face killer bootloop.
