between LG G5 and iPhone 6 plus which will give me a better battery life and more pleasant usage overall?

Then check, I'm pretty much sure you won't face it. It is nothing related to LG S/w Update, rather it is related to App update that is the culprit here :)
The G5 on nougat has absolutely brilliant battery life and I'm a heavy user and I have been using my G5 all day today doing multiple things like calls, texting,YouTube,Internet and gaming and my G5 has currently 31% battery at half ten at night, that's plenty left.
This phone is epic and it blows away my HTC 10 battery life, that phone would need charging twice by now.
huge issue - if u r in roaming network , u will not be able to download and update apps from play store using roaming data network.this is not LG issue but all smartphone manufacturer who provided nougat update. if ur mobile network not in roaming then u do not need to worry.
after update hard reset your phone otherwise u will get low battery backup and heating issue. just hard reset and good to go.

What that software is doing is acquiring the resources and not releasing it. So, it is some bad software that you need to check which one it is.
When you restart configuration gets reset as while powering off you are disconnecting from software.
I was fairly certain that I would buy an LG G5, but the thing that convinced me was the LG G6 specs. I preferred the G5 and it hasn't disappointed me in any respect. It was an unlocked phone though and getting updates (or Nougat) for the Canadian H831 model is proving a challenge.
BTW - The LG G5 works well with the Diamond DS3900V2 docking station and the Diamond BVU3500H HDMI adapter. I can connect to the BVU3500H either directly from the LG G5, or via an ANKER 7-port USB 3 hub.
Just got my G5 unlocked for domestic use about 5 minutes ago. It was internationally unlocked from Sprint last week. I felt a little bad when I saw Best Buy basically offering it for $120 (5x24) but I forgot I got a $100 credit from them so I only paid about $140. The phone is totally worth it. People bash its design when it still looks sexier than the Galaxy S5 and Note 4. You won't find many flagships these days with removable battery, FM radio, and IR blaster. They usually omit features like that now along with 3.5mm headphone jack.
LG G5 is the best all-around smartphone ever for me. Plan to stick to Marshmallow. I didn't like that Nougat omitted that Flappy Droid Easter egg that we saw in Android 5 and 6.
Strange problem after updating to nougat. Fast charging is gone. Now it takes 30 mins+ to charge just 10%.
Best Buy has it going for $5 per month signing up for Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T. That's $120. Maybe up to $170 if taxes and new activation is included. That's the cheapest Snapdragon 820-powered smartphone you can find.

You are not going to find the LG launcher smooth and light like what you find with the Google Nexus series phones though, but you do get a lot more customized features that you will not have on vanilla android.
I had used 2 LG phones, both of them were beautiful and good, but not including the batteries. For the first year: good. After 1 year: the phone shutdown automatically, especially when call going. Now I hate the smartphone of LG brand name !
AnonD-447117, 04 Mar 2017I have the retention problem and the service center ppl are replacing the screenI think you are confusing yourself with AMOLED screens which has burn in effect compared to traditional IPS LCD display. Go back to your cave and sleep fanboy.
The most underrated phone. The samsung s5 was also underrated. I love the g5 more than life itself. Most people are concerned with silly things such as premium feel. Who cares when your phone is in an case all the time !! Even if it wasnt, who cares !! Not me. This phone has 3 cameras. 1 8mp front. 1 8mp WIDE ANGLE LENS, and 1 16mp. Optical image stabilization. 4 gb ram. Latest processor. High res display and pixel density. REMOVABLE battery so you can be mobile and free at all times without being stuck to a wall or carrying a bulky edternal battery. It also has quick charging. What more does one need? A premium feel? Jesus, ive lost hope in humanity.
For those who say don't update to nougat, ignore them that's absolutely rubbish my G5 works perfectly on nougat with zero problems and excellent battery life.
I use the G5 and HTC10 and I swap between them on a regular basis and the G5 is better in some respects than the HTC 10 because it has better battery life and the always on display and of course replaceable battery and larger screen size and it doesn't get as hot as the HTC 10 when pushed.
I admit though the HTC 10 has better sound and build quality and also call quality is louder and clearer and I love the customization that it has to.
Overall I use the G5 more but you could live with the HTC 10 if you can afford it but they are both very good phones.
