I saw several reviews on YouTube concerning LG G8S, and I find that it deserves its price, finally I decided to buy it, but before that I want to know did it have update to android 10 or no

The proximity sensor is supposed to turn off screen when close to your ear to prevent accidental touch and bring it back on when moved away. Here, the sensor is automatically turning the screen off. It might be die to bad calibration that might have happened due to recent software update.
Other reasons could be dust clogging the sensor.
These issues can be resolved by manually updating software again using the original file and by cleaning the phone, not just from outside but inside too.
Otherwise, the sensor is broken. It will need replacement.
All the above fixes are best done by experts.
If you need a workaround, you can turn off the auto blackening of screen by using a different dialer app.

Hi, I am looking for help. The display is going black when I answer the phone and I have to press the side button to turn it on.
I don't use screen protector etc. Any ideas?
Just bought this phone, brand-new for £350. An absolute steal! Can't wait for it to arrive.

Until now I had Huawei - an older model but flagship I hope I will be still happy with LG- never had before

I doubt you will ever see any further android updates from LG, they are terrible at providing new updates so likely no Android 10. Other than that they are pretty much matched. Much better camera and better sound (via BT or Jack) on P30 whereas G8S has stereo speakers and better IP rating. Screen wise they are like for like, i prefer the P30 but they are both really good, I also prefer EMUI to LG's UX. If only LG gave better customer support for phones like they do their TV's.

Overall I prefer the G8S. It's got a slightly bigger, more vibrant display, stereo speakers, better construction quality, waterproofing, more natural looking photos, and I prefer its Android skin.
The P30 has a better camera in some situations, such as extremely low light, but I prefer the results from the G8S as they look more natural and lass processed. I don't often want to take photos in near darkness, as is possible with the P30.
In all of the main attributes I interact with - the build quality, display, speakers, os - the G8S is better.
I am decide to buy LG G8S Thinq but still thinking about Huawei P30 (not pro)
Main points: battery, and Mil std is it really good in Lg) body glass) or P30 aluminium is better?
I'm planing on buying this phone but I care much about headphones audio quality. Since the the 3.5mm output isn't an option I plan to use an adapter that has an integrated DAC (USB-C to 3.5mm jack) - would it work? Thank you!

Pmxd, 18 Apr 2020How do you compare the g8s and the P30? I'm deciding between this 2 models to buyHi, can anyone answer? Thx
KondriX, 23 May 2020Thanks for the answer. I've read somewhere that it does have a Hi-Fi Dac, just not a Quad one.... moreI have this phone and all I can tell is that the sound is decent, not the best but not bad, it really is not that bad, the top speaker is bass oriented so it can produce low-end frequencies while the bottom speaker is just a regular phone speaker, nothing cool about it but again, nothing bad about it also.
I made my custom preset as follows : 1st bar at 75% , 2nd bar at 90%, 3rd bar 80% 4th 75% 5th 50%, 6th 30% 7th 8th and 10th are at 35% and 9th is at 30%, with the equalizer like this and DTS deactivated it gives the best bass through the speakers but in some videos on youtube some low-end voices tend to sound a bit eh so this works mostly with music, if I watch a movie or something I leave it with the bass boost preset and activate DTS and in DTS settings I selected the side by side option for the best stereo effect.
It needs a bit of tinkering to get the sound right but overall I'm ok with it, if you want to use bluetooth devices or a pair of headphones just leave it on bass booster, my preset is good just for the built-in speakers...
I had a ZenFone 3 before getting my hands on the g8s and what can I say, the Asus has a better equalizer and a much better bass when it comes to the headphone jack, that's why I'm still using that phone for music in my car, if you care about bass, the g8s isn't going to be wow, sound through bluetooth seems a bit better than throught the headphone jack.

It doesn't sound too good tbh. I've also got a Huawei P30 and it sounds very similar. Interestingly, I recently bought an S10 plus and it sounds a bit better, although not as good as a quad dac.
I've been using both with an lg hi-fi plus dac. With a short usb-c to usb-c cable it's quite an elegant solution, and means that I'm not tied to lg quad dac phones. Having said that, I just ordered a V50 though.

But in general I guess the audio quality is still good, no?
