The keyboard is ok, occasionally makes a few mistakes but a touchscreen calibration and SlideIT Keyboard makes it pretty good to use.

1. Orange phones are rubbish, and they mess up the software something awful.
2. Google Maps, is the same everywhere, with regards connection.
3. As a solution, you could go here :
and see a modded version of Google Maps, with Navigation, which lets you save map tiles to SD card, and navigate fully offline(using GPS), and uses vioce.
It works quiet well.
Most of the Nav apps that work on this phone, save maps to SD, and there are a couple of free apps for Nav also, on the market.
Having used this phone for just over a week I have found a severe downside that is not documented. If you are in an area with no phone coverage (Orange !!!!!) the maps function does not work !
I bought the unit expecting to be able to access the maps function extensively - found that if I am in an area with no Phone signal, which I am regularly, Google maps is NFU as it does not store data on the SD card. I've now downloaded a third party software (cost of £24) which gives me full map access loaded on SD card. If I had known that you need a phone signal to use the Maps I would never have bought this phone.
Whatever you do in life whether its getting married, having kids, collecting stamps, going on holiday - DON'T EVER USE THE 3 Network, they really sukkk

I have to agree with blue charger, O2 customer service stinks. I was told in person and by text that my tariff would change within a couple of days, this didn't happen and in the mean time I ate though a lot of credit.
Then got a text telling me I'd change to text and web on 11th Sept, over a month after my initial request!
Ringing O2 got me knowhere, they just flat refused to honour the 48hr promise I'd had in store.
Instead I've had to set up a temporary 500mb bolt on for £7.50 in order to stop my credit evaporating.
Other than that it's a great phone...

If you disable Mobile Network, and Enable Wifi, then yes, you can do all that, without charges.
I am currently waiting for 02 to change my tarrif to include wed allowance. In the meantime if I use the wifi connection at home using by BT wireless router can I use all the internet (such as google maps and downloading android apps) free without it using my pay as you go credit.
Diluen, 05 Sep 2010I wonder if v2.1 has OTA update. That would make life easier. =D@ Diluen,
That would depend on the provider, and LG, but all updates so far have been with PC-Phone usb connection, and manual downloads.
Natasha, 04 Sep 2010Can the phone upgrade just by using the wifi, if you get the tarrif wihtout the internet ?@ Natasha,
Currently, ALL updates are done on PC, with a usb connection from PC to Phone.
You can't update Android on this phone OTA(Over the air), as of yet, if ever.
If you don't have the tariff, for net allowance, Then change to one that does, as not having that tariff and a phone like this, is a waste.
But you can use wifi for other things like downloading apps or sending mails, etc, but its limited, to locations with wifi, like your house, or somewhere outdoors that does it, whereas 3G is active pretty much all the time, and everywhere.
Can the phone upgrade just by using the wifi, if you get the tarrif wihtout the internet ?
