The GT540 is far better than the overhyped i-Phone IMHO (Ive owned both)
Mine is a refurb from Carphone warehouse and lo and behold it had 2.1 already loaded and running a dream straight out of the box
The apps Market is superb - if you dont get anything else get google Sky Maps, and Kindle for Android whick makes this device even more brilliant and being a skinflint in my late 50s I can read so many free books its fantastic
In summary - easy to use, unbeleivably versatile, zillions of apps, integrated GPS, Wifi and 3G, and looks nice too - well reccomended!

My UK T-Mobile PAYG GT540 with Android 2.1 has started to show a letter 'R'(for Roaming) in the signal strength icon and also will occasionally list 'Orange' and 'T-Mobile as the available networks.

Any ideas how I stop Orange (or any non T-Mobile network) intruding? I'm running my GT540 only on 2G and have all Wi-Fi, Data Roaming etc switched off. Thanks in advance, Ricky.

Anonymous, 02 Feb 2011still i dont get it.. who can teach me how to use my mp3 ringtone in text message? :) tnx....I did what Brijesh Praveen suggested on this forum by creating a folder in the root directory of my sd card and calling it Media and inside this folder i placed another folder and called it notifications, i did insert around six of my favourite mp3 into this new notifications folder, and later when i touched settings on my GT540 and went into music and sound and then touched on notifications i did find these mp3 ring tones to choose as notification ring tone and i did choose one from the list and later i did send a text from my Motorola Defy to the GT540 and my previously chosen ringtone did play on the GT540 when it received the text message notification, therefore if it works for me then it is easy to do, as i am an old man.
( i actualy put the new media folder into the DCIM folder as i did not know which folder is root directory )
