I'm using this cell for last 2 months and I'm quite impressed with it. I like the size and clarity of LCD. The 3.15 MP camera give good result in day as well as night. It lacks a flash, but it doesn't bother me. Has a decent battery life. The UI is a somewhat slow but you'll get use to it once you use it. In all, this is, truly a value for money mobile. It is feature rich at a very affordable price.

I see people commenting on slowness on UI and compare it with some high-end products. I dont see a point in comparing this phone with some phone that is out of my budget.

I bought this cell for Rs 7900/- (roughly 165 US$). For me there is no point in comparing this cell with Nokia 5800 which is around Rs. 19000/- (395 US$).

Suggestion: Compare only those mobiles that are in your budget.

i was wondering if the touch screen on the LG cookie is good. if you drop it, does it stop working ? does it have a slow response ? any other problems with it ? and what are the cons about the cookie ? does the speedial work ?

thankyou (:

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2009The Sony Ericsson P1i is one of the best touch-screen smartphones I have ever used. It is reco... moreI totally agree with you. The Sony P1i was the best all around phone I had. Wifi, 3G, QWERTY, AF Camera + Flash that you can use as a flashlight in case of emergencies.

The Cookie is basically a toy compared to the P1. Still, I bought a Cookie and have no regrets. My sister wanted the P1 so badly so I gave it to her and I just borrow it sometimes when I want to connect to the Internet.

moneyBaggs, 16 Aug 2009I have a nailbiting choice Nokia 5800 or the cookie??? Wifi? Stereo speakers? Get the 5800.

Just going to use for calls and SMS? Just want to experience touchscreen? Get the cookie. I definitely think it has gives better touchscreen interface experience than the 5800. Then buy a camera or something with the extra cash you would have spent for the 5800.

I tried both first hand.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970In my opinion, here's my choice for each category between the star, cookie and 5800.

Looks: Samsung Star

UI: LG Cookie

Features: Nokia 5800

Price: LG Cookie

Durabity: I think I'd go with the 5800. My friend has one for months and still in perfect condition.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Personally, I think it has better UI than the 5800 though the 5800 definitely has more features.

I still like the UI of the Cookie more than the Samsung Star. You might want the widgets of the Star though since it allows you to install more widgets. The widgets of the Cookie are pre-installed and you can not add more. If you don't use widgets much, you'll be just fine with the Cookie.

i just bought a Cookie last weekend and I really liked the user interface. It's very eye catching for an affordable phone and the transition animations are fluid. The menus are easy to get used to.

Experience:
I used to have a hard time using the qwerty screen keyboard but ever since I got used to it, I can type faster with it than the alpha-numeric keypad.

I agree with everyone who says that the reaction of the phone to the switching between the widget screen and the speed dial contacts screen is slow. It takes at most 2 seconds (at least for my unit) before the screen changes. Not much of a problem.

I tried using the browser with the GPRS Internet. The speed is "so fast" you'll never think of using it again for browsing. Good luck with loading those full pages.

The screen turns itself off within a few seconds when Idle and I haven't found any settings to change this. You have to press any hardware button ONCE to turn the screen on again. Pressing twice on a wrong button (like the END CALL) may give you undesirable results (like losing that very long unsaved message).

Bugs:
The first bug that I encountered was with the speed dials. I assigned SIM contacts then was doing a few editing. When i selected one of the entries in the speed dial screen, it didn't have the call and messaging buttons. To make it worse, pressing the edit button makes the phone restart. My fix was to remove the contact from the speed dial then assign it back again. I haven't encountered this bug again as of now.

They say that the phone hangs up when multi-tasking while doing a call. I haven't tried this one yet but I think you seldom need to do something else with your phone while doing a call.

Likes:
-Screen design, animation, transitions
-Screen is very bright
-Audio is loud and has very good quality
-Nice texture of external (I have the black matte one)
-Resistive screen is sensitive though not as sensitive as capacitive screens
-Image editing has lots of features. It even includes auto-color and auto-contrast. Also has filter effects.
-Image viewer is fun to use. Quite responsive too.
-Good signal quality. Mine even surpasses the signal quality of my Sony P1i
-Quite thin and doesn't too much space in your pocket
-You scroll through lists the same way with the iphone swiping your finger across the screen. It even has the slight bouncing effect when you hit the bottom the the list.
-Mine already has a screen protector attached when I bought it and it includes another one inside the box.
-Very affordable for a full touch screen phone. Has lots of colors to choose from (I was deciding between the O2 exclusive white or the black matte)

Dislikes:
-Screen still a bit too small for qwerty
-No auto-focus for camera, no flash, theres a bit of noise
-Alphanumeric keypad is a bit slow. This is the reason I use the qwerty keyboard for SMS
-SMS alert play time is a bit short
-Very slow internet speeds
-Small size may cause it to slip from your hand

Personal Opinion:
I really think that this is a very nice phone considering its price. I bought mine for 8.3k Philippine Pesos (roughly 175 USD). I don't think it's right to compare this phone to those with a higher price tag. Obviously, the features would not be in par with each other. If you want to experience using a full touch screen phone without spending a big sum of money then this phone is for you.

heey guys.
i am wanting to get a new phone but i'm not sure which one to get.
i am debating between the lg cookie and the lg ice cream.
the lg cookie seems like a good phone, but im afraid the the touch screen will stop responding if i drop it a lot. also, people say it may freeze a lot, but i love the games and the fact that it's a touch screen. though i am a careless person so i think i may bresk the touch screen. the drawing on thr pictures are not a big deal because i have the same thing on my camera.
i like the lg ice cream because i love the LED display !
the pink is adorable. except this phone does not have as many functions, and my sister has the same one. but now i am just looking for quality.
i dont care about internet, but i am just wondering which one is better. they are both the same price (:

thankyou !
