For upgrading
forgot to mention, use the pc suite on the lg site to back up any necessary info, the upgrader reminds u of this, ALSO REMOVE ANY SD CARDS
The remainder of my post describing the upgrade process should be up shortly, the mod appearantly has to approve it since its lengthy

check phone firmware version with,
HOME menu-> blue hand icon->settings->phone settings->handset information (at the bottom)

Oh yea,
Anyone having problems with the kp500 and u dont have firmware ending in 10d, proceed to the lg uk site. Please take note of who ur service provider is (locked) or if your phone is open (unlocked).
Make sure your phone is fully charged before continuing!!!!!!!!!!!
Make some changes to your phones settings by doing the following:
1: Click on the Blue icon with the hand located on the Home menu.
2: Go to Settings (bottom selection)->Connectivity
3: Go to USB connection
4: Select "Always Ask" and save

1: Launch the program
2: Select options and help->country and language
2: For locked phones select your appropriate country
UNLOCKED phones select United Kingdom.
3: Now select Customer Support-> StartUpgrading
4: Locate the name of your phone. The name of your phone should be located underneath the battery, close to the barcodes. Usually selecting "KP500 Cookie" is sufficient.
5: Double click on the selection and download the USB driver, take note of the location it is being downloaded to. Install the USB driver.
6: After several seconds, another installation should come up, this is the Flash USB installer, needed for the actual upgrade. Install the driver. Be sure the cmd promt with "Installing" goes away on its own. if not you will have to rerun the install for the flash usb by navigating to the download folder the usb driver is stored in.
7: Now the updater should attempt to connect to your phone, it will fail since your phone is not connected as of yet. Connect your phone to your usb port using the usb cable, now the phone will ask you how you want the phone to connect, select "PC Suite".
8: In the updater program click "Retry" and the updating process will begin.
9: DO NOT DISCONNECT/POWER OFF YOUR PHONE OR COMPUTER YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE AND IT WILL BE USELESS
10: If you have problems with communicating with the phone according to the updater, Disconnect your phone. Restart your phone and computer, reinstall the USB driver and flash driver and try again.

steve, 11 Jun 2009when i plug in usb to phone and computer to add songs to it as i plug it in on my phone it say... morehello steve,
on the main screen (home), push the center button, when it opens the menu push the "play button" located at the top right of the the said menu. Here u will see a list of all opened programs and or processs, press "end all". Try to load/play ur songs again.
Typically this resolves all conflics whether it be a gallery or camera conflict. hope it helps.

i've had this phone for 2 months, the battery lasts 3.5 hours max on a full charge and i have it set on the lowest brightness settings, the touch screen is also unresponsive at times, i wish i had not purchased it!!!
