You might wanna check the voltage in your house because that does not sound right at all, or check your chargers something is screwy i doubt very much its the phone itself draining that much power.

BUYERS BEWARE OF THE BATTERY RUNNING OUT IN LESS THAN ONE DAY. Yes,I couldnt believe it at first.I thought it was just a dodgy battery. Ive had two replacement phones from O2 because of this. Im now on my third phone from carphone warehouse. This one is sim free and no network branding. I charged all the phones for 12 hours first time with the phones switched off. On standby only, without sending or recieving a single call, they lasted no more than 13 HOURS before going completly flat!! On my third (and last Viewty phone) I set the screen brightness to only 60%,activated the power saver, removed my wallpaper (downloaded from O2 site) set ringtone and message alert to shortest sound installed on phone. After charging phone for the 4th time (5 hour charge this time) it gave me 3 outgiong calls.4 incoming calls (total call time of all calls 18 minutes) 2 standard sent text messages and 2 standard recieved texts. The phones battery died on me after only 6 yes 6 hours. Ive had 3 brand new phones with batterys that have not even lasted 24 hours. LG has a serious drain problem or battery problem with this phone. Ive had the LG shine and the Prada, but this problem does not exist with those.Im contacting LG to see if they are now aware of this issue and what they are going to do about it.

LG should upgrade firmware enabling this phone to support microSD/SDHC up to 16 GB.

Ash:

some people mentioned that the retail package comes with a div x converter, is that not true? maybe if ur videos arent exactly 600 x 400 or w/e the resolution is, try the div x converter that came with the phone, maybe that should do the trick.

and for those who want to know why u cannot turn off the shutter sound, i believe it's because there's a policy nowadays that u cannot take a photo of someone without them knowing. or else it would be way too easy to stalk on people. if i remember correctly, that is the reason why shutter sounds cannot be removed, or someone can correct me if they know anything.

and thanks to everyone who have been writing on here about the handset. most of the feedback have been positive, and it just reassures those of us who have yet to get it. im still waiting for the Hong Kong version, i want the chinese hand recognition option!

just to let you all know the viewty also accepts memory cards higher than 2gb even though that all that the specs say it can handle, I have a 6gb micro sd HC in mine an it works fine. the built in memeory manager however does only show that you have 2gb of free memory. if you put files on the mem card it still reads them with no issues and the memory manager will still show that you have 2 gb left free (unless you use more than 4 gb thats when it will start to decrease). I have had the viewty for around 1 week now and i love it to bits. the camera is fab and the vga recording is very impressive. only one downside so far and thats the divx. Its is publiciesed that it supports divx at 600*400, I put a dix on my phone of 608*336 and it wouldnt play, i would of thought that the phone would be capable of downsizing the image to fit the screen but it appears not, I have not yet tried videos of less than 600*400 so im not sure if it will handle them either, it may just be that it absolutly has to be 600*400 to work wich is annoying as sometimes you cant find vids you want to download of that exact resoluiton. But i'm no expert in this area therefore do not know fully how the technology works, so there may be a reasonable explantion for this. appart from that its incredible.

I was a big SE fan and refused to get anything else. until the k850 came out and it looks awful and is very bulky, and has a rather silly button layout (personal opinion)
I didnt even here of the viewty till i looked on my networks website to see what phones were available as i was due for upgrade. and saw this imediatly fell in love with it. it had everything the k850 lacked and everything the k850 gained. If lg continue to produce phones like this I may well be a convert.

Just to note the inability to turn the shuuter noise off is annoying. However I think lg have done that for a reason, as it can be hrd to tell when it is safe to move the camera from when you have pressed the button, but you now it is safe to do so when you have heard the shutter sound.

Pehaps lg should consider releasing a software update that contains a gentle click sound for the shutter just as a gentle signifier that it is ok to move the camera.

I also think tha LG should start to make a bigger noise about this phone than it has done. As a lot of people may well get this phone as a cheaper alternative to the iphone. and with just a few days to its uk release I think LG may have missed the boat slightly.

I've had this phone 3 days now and I have to say I'm very impressed. Main downer is camera shutter noise cannot to be turned off! Even in silent mode. A bit annoying as I take phot's of my son when he's asleep and so I might not be doing that anymore! I was hopeing to be bale to set any .mp3 to the shutter sound and set a blank one. But other than that its really a cool phone. The camera speed isn't slow at all, but itsd not as quick as my old W800i (K750i), but they were practically instant! It takes most its "time" sorting the focus and stuff out it seems and then blam. The light cannot be like a torch, booo, the light is now like a digital camera flash when in low light, I actually prefer this to the torch style for photo's, but not for when I'm working on PC's and need some light, so you win some and you lose some. Texting is awesome, not as fast as a regular keypad, but Very close, not a problem at all, it has handwriting recognition, but like all these things, h is an n, etc etc, not bad, but you do have to make sure you get the letters very clear, FAR easier to use T9 on the standard keypad emulation, really easy to rattle out texts. I dont personally use the stylus with the phone, I know I'll loose it ;o) but the phone works great with regualr sized bloke fingers. It has some of that lovely flick across the screen to move things like contacts which I found by mistake, saves using the jog wheel. The jog wheel is not all that great, but I find you drag your finger up the screen to drag the contacts and menu etc and its as easy to find people as it on my old phone now, the jog is a pain. I'll load the cd up soon and jam it up with music once I buy a 2GB micro stick, and then convert a movie or maybe a stack of my name is earls for on the go entertainment ;o) The screen size is what everyone commants on! its huge! But the handset seems to me slim and fits on pockets. The vibrate when you touch is good, you know when you've pressed. The image quality on the phone looks good enough to me and I do like the flash like a digi camera as it works a lot better than torch method. I'm a person who would have NEVER considered an LG phone! never! I always had Nokia, Samsung or SE, this though is really an amazing phone, the audio quaslity when talking is crystal clear and really loud, I had to turn it nearly all the way down! I was torn between this and K850i, and I think I made the right choice! Even more so now I've used it for a few days! I would hate the finger print magnet 850i, I'm sure its a good phone, but the lg doesn't pick up that many finger prints, the back is made of metal and front is touch, but it doesn't seem to pick up loads of print :O) I've dragged on a bit here so I'll go now :O) but if you got any quiries post em up. This phone has that oooh quality, like, oooh whats that? It looks awesome, just need a proper case/sock and I'm set!

I have had this phone for 3 days now and love it. The only annoying thing is there is no way of turning off the camera shutter noise. Can anyone help. Also if you are on Orange in the Uk and want to use their mobile TV it will not work and they are currently unable to support the Viewty. Other that that, can't wait to get Memory Card so i can use it properly.

Think they would work well? since they could be resourse hungry, and ive heard this one doesnt have an OS to it.

So Many Phones to choose from these days which is great because this year before my upgrade I actually did my homework! I decided to get the LG KU990 Viewty after much deliberation and I am Soooo Pleased I did. Camera is Fantastic A+++++ - Very Quick - Very Easy. As is every aspect of this amazing device. Don't let anyone tell you its Slow because its not! It is different from your old fashioned key type phone so do yourself a favour and actually read the manual, its really clear and the tips make for easy use of this advanced technology! And at dinner last night who's new phone got the most envious looks - Not the SE 850, deffinately not the N95 (Who designed that, they want shooting) My Gorgeous Beauty of a Viewty got everyone wanting one. Brains and Beauty, its a class act. I love it!!!!!! Best new phone out there by a mile. For Me 9.9 out of 10 for functionality, speed, weight, quality and design. I'll never say 'its just a phone' again! Can't wait to see how this phone will evolve in the future? Keep up the Quality LG and please consider a nice little leather sleeve to house our new lovely phone in please, it shows you care! Then you get 10 out of 10. Cheers, get one and enjoy!

Hi
I must appreciate this masterpiece for great jobs which has been done to it.The design is really excellent ,also bright 256K sceen display, slim enough to be in one's pocket and with 106 gram weight it is really light to compare with other brands.I hope it would be affordable for everyone to own one when available in our contry market.
Great job "More Power to LG's elbow".

I dont think you will regret the viewty. I was a user of k800 too. in viewty, opening cam is 2.5 to 3 seconds with just a long press on the camera button. Changing from cam to video is never that easy. you just have to change the setting on top. like real digi cams. taking pix is pretty fast. once clicked, it freeazed for a while and same picture is saved. unlike other cam-phone where you thought, what u ahve seen in the screen is what you have captured. here, snap and saved. all setting are all on the screen. no hassle.

Been wanting to buy this phone for ages, and seems like it's finally arriving in NL this week. But one thing could really keep me from buying the KU990: cameraperformance.

So, what's everyone's opinion with the shutter lag on this camera? I own a SE K800i now and am very pleased with its camera. And would hate to find out the KU990's camera is like so many phone-cams: press the shutter and wait a week for the camera to actually take the picture... Also, how quick is it to activate the camera?

Would appreciate some feedback from actual users on this! Thanks!
