I've had my Viewty for a while. That's the only thing I can't complain about. The screen is quite resistant. Mine has been dropped, stepped on, my keys were just beside it in my bag, under a pile of books... It had a tough life. The screen still looks as good as new.
If you want to use it just as a phone, yes I recommend it. If you want to use it as a smartphone (synchronise it with your laptop or pc)or you want to set reminders on it then chose another one.
I was really dissapointed with some features of the phone and to find the solutions online extremely not user friendly.

Yes, I've used other camera phones, so I don't expect much. But I was still disappointed.
The problem is the very low light sensitivity, which means blurry photos in anything less than perfect light conditions. The flash is surprisingly weak too. I have it permanently set to 3 MP - no point in capturing the full 5 MP, when they don't add anything to the detail.
They should've just put a 3 MP sensor in to start with. At least the light sensitivity would've been better.
The video capture, on the other hand, is great! I have a bunch of other niggles, but they're matched by the plus sides to the phone. Really, it would be a great phone if they hadn't marketed it as having a camera that's above your typical cameraphone.

but the important part is not calling, it's indeed use sms sender, i.e. save it. of course since i can just call it. i can save from call list.
i cannot find edit before call though, it;s important for making IDD call for me.
i've read the book, but no clue..
Pretty little memory does not have hscsd... And not worth 4 d price

1.There is an option for edit before call.
2. sms sender call is also avialable. While viewing the message, you can press directly the call button (green)and automaticaly the phone calls the sms sender.
i just got myself a KU990R, R stands for the version with the lens-cover. since my K800 have its LCD failing recently.
i can say this is actually a "late-but-proper" upgrade. camera is significantly better. no doubt about the video performance to a SE.
i can say : Viewty is a multimedia phone. not a business phone. the thing i find it annoying is simply the "business" features. no edit-before-call like SE, no direct call to SMS sender etc. may be inconvenient, for ppl who often make calls and sms.
viewty also has another drawback, which is starting to get slow once it fills up. im only using 2gb. i cant imagine people with 8GB viewty. it will works, as long as u format and fill it up, until 6.2gb.
(means viewty only detect max 1.8gb free space)
but, for those who are interested with this phone, i can tell this is a good camera phone, yet with nice design. although i bought it relatively late (1.5 years late) it;s still amazing to find many people on the net actually own this phone. (i.e. youtube)
i will personally give a rating of 8/10.
+ good design. user friendly. keypad/board to sms
- no basic communication option (edit before call, call sms sender straight)
- no equalizer in media player
that is my highlight, for 2007 based viewty vs a 2006 based K800. ignoring the camera capability of course.

Does anyone knows how to download videos in this phone? i've tried many times (sync) but, i couldn't transfer videos from my pc to this phone. Please help.
it's a nice phone but i was hoping LG would put a TV out for this and they should have put a higher mmc capacity. The phone lags too while your accessing the file manager... I'll probably replace this one with a different phone...
A few more things I think people should think about before buying this phone.
I kinda feel that LG was dumb to boast about the 2 GB support. Because a large card like that and the coupling of a large number of 5MP camera shots slow the access time down tremendously. Its actually quite depressing after a while.
However there's no denying the quality of this camera. SIGH Its bitter sweet. Decide which you want more. The access speed or the amazing picture and video quality.
xx, 14 Jun 2009what is the music player like on it ?The music player is kinda decent. HOwever I definitely wouldn't buy this phone for its music capabilities. Lets just say it has nothing on other models like the SE W800i and similar phones.
If you're going to make comments on a phone at least be fair about it.
Regardless of your opinion, your statement that the camera is "relatively good" is rubbish. THe camera on this phone is superb. One of the few phones that supports 120 FPS recording. Further, the 5MP camera is amazing. I've used this phone and many others and quite frankly I've never been so satisfied with the way you are able to manipulate your pictures here.
I'm not sure what your claim is about regarding the scrolling. If you're going to offer feedback that other people might take seriously at least substantiate your argument. You're statement that the scrolling is horrible is inconclusive and quite useless information in influencing anyone's opinions about this phone.
The touch screen does seem to become less and less sensitive to touch over time but then I dropped my phone a lot so I can't accurately comment on that.
There are a few downfalls that are rather peculiar. After extensive use the touch screen "freezes" in that it is non responsive but the physical buttons still respond. Kinda irritating. But resetting the phone works wonders. Also I've lost my stylus twice so I'm over it. I do kinda wish there was a slide in compartment for it.
Otherwise this phone is pretty damn impressive. Definitely an all rounder.
1 + 4. This phone seems to have particular problems with internet connection settings with its applications. All applications require some hectic hardcore settings tweaking. Your best bet is to ask your cellular service provider. That's the people that provide you with your USIM card.
2. There is no way to "switch off" usb charging. But you're stress is unnecessary. Gone are the days where we had to let our battery die competely for fear of the battery life deteriorating quickly. New advances have allowed us to charge our batteries even when they're not flat completely with substantially less alteration to battery life.
3. Unfortunately the DIVX converter only converts MKV, AVI, WMV & MOV files to DIVX format.
But there are converters out there on the net. Just have a look :)
