LG has announced that it is opening a global Software Upgrade Center in South Korea. The facility will be located in LG’s new research and development campus in Magok-dong, western Seoul.
According to LG: "The Software Upgrade Center will not only be charged with developing and delivering regular OS updates for LG smartphones, it will also be responsible for ensuring a consistent user experience on LG devices by continuously testing the stability and compatibility between hardware and software after updates".
LG says this facility will enable rolling out updates to countries where its phones are sold much faster. The first initiative of this facility will be to bring Android Oreo to the LG G6 later this month in Korea, and in other markets later.
It's kinda insane that the G6 still does not have Oreo until now and that it took LG to build an entire facility to get its software update situation in order. Hopefully, at least now the situation with software updates on LG phones will improve, but by how much remains to be seen.
Why all the delay in updating V20 to Oreo?
You are Complaining... Well what about our Freedom Mobile LG V20 devices purchased in November 2016 and the last update sent out was May 1, 2017 Android Security Patch Level. Compared to our devices, LG very slow
All the LG V30+ in Middle East are still running on 7.0 No more LG from my side.
