If less ram is locked by the os, and blocked from the user, then more ram can be used for apps and games. 2X only have 372 mb ram available for apps and games. Apps and games can run even with almost no ram but that will be a much slower experience than with more ram. 2X is a very good choice, dual-core and not very expensive, but it would have been even better with more ram.
TC, 26 Feb 2011On my Galaxy S the user only have 339 mb ram available for the user of the total 512 mb ram.On my nokia N900, the available ram is 256mb yet is the best phone for multi-tasking. i think it differs from phone to phone. I DON'T THINK LG optimus 2x music player affects the ram but that is not to say you aren't far from the truth. my point is the player can't close. with Galaxy s the music player can be close and the reason when you start booting from the scratch it needs an allocated memory and the reaseon why the ram drops from 500mb to 320mb or so. but here is the case the music player is already open with LG OP...2x and the ram is 512mb, so just think about it. :) probably a step in the right direction.
TC, 24 Feb 2011LG Optimus 2X cost 545 euro in Sweden.Do you have any idea when it's going to be available in Sweden? I contacted Telia and they said in 2 weeks.

LG allocated ram from the 512 mb total ram so only 372 of those 512 mb ram is still available for the user. It is not clear if the ram that the musicplayer uses is taken from those 372 or is among the ram that is not available to the user of the 512 mab total ram.

PLS GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT & STOP BEING AN LG HATER!
On this video I can stop it after running for 34 seconds and then I can see how much internal memory it have and how much of the ram is available to the user. Unfortunatly LG have used 1.5 gb of the "8 gb" and reserved that for Android and leave only the rest as an internal sd-card, and that is a problem because that internal sd-card is actually used by apps as an external sd-card for installing maps for navigation software and the massive data for games... so 2X will not have enough memory. I have the same problem on my Galaxy S where Android use 2 gb and leave only the rest as an internal "external" sd-card for installing map-data and gamedata...
372 mb ram is available for the user, but because the musicplayer is running all the time and is not possible to turn of, 2X very fast run out of enough ram and that is a problem when multitasking.

guys optimus 2x will only be launched after june in India so we got a long time to wait
LG Electronics India is planning to launch six smartphone brands on its Optimus platform in the second quarter of 2011. The firm is also planning to set up a new production line for smartphones next year at its greenfield facility in Ranjangaon Industrial Estate, near Pune.
“Our first offering, Optimus Me smartphone, will be launched in June,” said Vishal Chopra, business head, mobile communications, LG Electronics India. The other brands to follow are Optimus 2X, Optimus 7, Optimus Black, Optimus Pad and Optimus Star, he said. The smartphones, imported from South Korea, will be in the price range of Rs 8,990 to Rs 32,000.
The musicplayer is always running, not able to turn it of, so how much ram of the 512 mb is actually available to the user for multitasking..., not enough ram makes multitasking almost impossible regardless of dual-core?
