The LG optimus 4x HD is a great phone ... but to buy a year old design with probable no more os updates and to then keep it for 2 years is probably going to be frustrating . I love my phone but with all phones there is an optimum time to buy. To get maximum time with it most updates and at a good price I feel that time has passed for this good phone

I have no idea if you live in the uk but monthly is far far cheaper here...especially if you are careful when buying.

I have found a really good site online, where i bought my previous phone and my girlfriends saving approximatley 10£ a month. They are brand new, and the company has won awards for it's quality. The average person looks in shop windows for sale, or goes to more well known online retailers. We could get a sim with unlimited data for £12.49 or get a good phone like xperia U for £15 with unlimited data and mins and txts. I find the same deals in the shops sale at often almost £10 a month cheaper by buying online. So yes it is really cheap.....so cheap i got my sgs months before the last contract i had ended. Not one of my neighbours, friends saves like we do.

and if both are the 16 gb model id go for the nexus because it has no skin over it.
stock android is always better then android with a skin.

the only difference is a spread payment or paying it in advance.

try calculating total 2 year price and the price of buying the phone seperate and getting a sim only :)

AnonD-13788, 28 Mar 2013ok. Well i can get one with ics 4.0 but updates are so varied from country to country and then... morewel considering your name i guess your from the UK haha the latest firmware there is v10F which is the same as v10h for your reagion (there is no v10g) and v10h only had some tiny fixes.
but you could still nanualy update to v10H from another country if you want to (no root required) by faking yur country with a tool.

you should however avoid branded phones (from t-mobile / vodafone and so on as they get there firmware later as the provider adds crap to ir first.

but im sure even then there are ways to load another firmware on your phone.

i can think of 3 things that make it more efficient.
                                    1. the core isnt a 40 nm which makes it a little more energy efficient.
                                    2. the phone has 2gb ram making it able to store more in its memory making the phone need less cpu calculations to open things because more is already in its memory which saves energy.
                                    3. it might have a newer kernel which might have energy saving tweaks. the 4x hd runs on a ''old'' 2.6 kernel and the optimus g might already e running on the kernel version 3.1
there is no kernel version 2.7/2.8/2.9 the latest version of 2.6 was renamed to 3.0 lateron so dont think its way outdated its only 1 version older :)

Well that leaves me wondering if it will be fixed, or get the further updates if i get one here. I will see if i can look at one int a store first to see what firmware is etc.
