Saw this phone on display with a price tag of around USD 440. I am thinking of getting one. My concerns are:
Did LG found a way in fixing the Autofocus issue with the camera? All reviews I've read always mentioned this problem.
And how about the battery life? Some say it's ok while others report of terrible battery performance.
Really appreciate your replies. :-)
Silvatore, 06 Mar 2013Pinooo.. Thank you very much man :) you are very helpful and I really very much appreciate you... moreif the S3 is second hand so get the back plate off and look for cracks in the housing and on the sides.
this was a issue with some batches of the S3 and can leave you with a weak body.
and yeah for the price this phone cant really be beaten if price isnt a issue this almost 9 month old phone is easely replaced as 6/9 months is about the lifespan of a high end phone.
after that its not the fastest anymore evelopment of these things goes really fast these days and doesnt seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
wich is another reason to go with a cheaper option.
but either way todays quad cores will be more then fast enough for pretty much every taks apart from maby high end games for the next 3 years.
anyway gl with your choice.

I have been searching for a phone in the last 2 month and my search has been ended to the list which I mentioned in the last message "Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2, LG Optimus 4X HD, Xperia Acro S, Xperia SL & Xperia S".. I found that the optimus 4X HD is the best one of them if I will compare features with price.. Maybe it is not the best of them but it is the best in its price and I am pretty sure of that.. I saw many benchmarkings and this phone wasn't the best but it was VS the best phones now.. I am not a pro user but after root I can handle some issues if I faced any.. So my last decision, I will check the used "Galaxy S3" and if I found its condition is very good and there is no issues on it, I will go for it.. If it is a fake so I will go for LG optimus 4X HD.
Thanks once again and if I got this phone I will be bothering u :P

as for the video calling maby you can download a new dailer app that works over 3g.
ive never looked into this as its kind of a niche feature and i cant be bothered to shave often so dont want to be on camera anyway :)
anyway the 3g video call feature isnt android native and samsung modified android to somewhat support it. but only on a few models and to that models which is kind of a half way solution.
and yes i believe specialy price preformance wise this is the best you can get now.
if you have and are willing to spend more in 2 months theres lots of new toys incoming.
if ofcourse you can wait that long.
but right now this really is the biggest bang for the buck you can get.
as for bugs no i dont think there are any bugs.
sure there are some anoyancec but every rom has those but luckaly they are not major and more things i would have done different then actual bugs.
like the app drawer not sorting apps optimaly (but you can do this manualy) and theres like any phone to much crap booting up so you need to disable some rubbish so it uses less resources.
the only other thing that comes to mind is tat you might hit the home button when typing and pressing space.
but you can fix this by getting a different keyboard or just tilting the phone horizontly or just practice hehe.
but more phones with tip keys seem to have this issue and this is why they are moving back to the center key being a actual button on some models.
but seeing going back to the home screen on android is non destructive it wont delete the text you typed and you can just continue typing if you reopen the app.
so no biggy just practice.
and 1 thing they should have added is call vollume controll in the sound menu.
now you can change key press vollume ringtone vollume alarm vollume and notification vollume ut they forgotto add call vollume but you can change this with the buttons on the side anyway so once more not a biggy just a strange design choice not a bug.
anyway off to bed now hehe almost 5 am here if you have more questions ill check it tomorrow and try to answer it.

I don't care about battery life.. I just care about performance :) And about native video calls it is really working on almost all Galaxy devices with a front Cam so I wished that I will find it working in LG.. Never mind, It is not a mandatory for me.. Last thing, If I am confused about 4X HD & S3 "Used" & S2 & Xperia S & Xperia SL & Xperia Acro S.. Do you think 4X HD is the best of them comparing its features with its price!? And as you are an expert user I think, So Did you figured out any bugs, issues or anything wrong with this beast 4X HD!? :)
I would like to hear more from you so I can feel more comfortable buying this one :))
Silvatore, 05 Mar 2013Guys, I have xperia mini pro and I am planning to buy this phone but I am a heavy user, gamer ... moreit can play about every game with some games causing problems but this is more to blame on the defs then on the phone.
but so not expect long battery life phones just are NOT made for it you wil greatly decrease battery life with gaming on ANY fast high end phone.
using more apps shoulnt be a problem at all however leaving som apps open is a bad thing on any phone (facebook, maps, google+)as they drain battery.
if you come from a mini pro you will simply not believe how fast this beast is its not even comparable to the xperia mini pro.
as for native video call i believe not.
you need to use apps like skype or oovoo.
skype currently is rather buggy for our phone and cant be used in its latest version you actualy need to use a old version and cant use your msn list in this version.
but oovoo and so on should work just fine.
other the that ive never really heard of a native video call feature.
the problem is they nee to work on every phone so sony cant just add it and make you call with a LG or samsung or HTC as all phones need to run the same software.
so i guess your stuck with 3rd party software on that one.
the phone is realy solidly build (better then the galaxy S3 for sure) and should last you long enough if ofcourse you take good care of it.
phones these days have become really slim and with that more flexible so you dont want to sit on it or leave it in tight pants while you sit down.
these are things to get used to.
want to sit down show off you lg and lay it on the table :)
the screen has gorilla glass but you should still use screen protectors just because they cost less then 20 cents and can still safe your phones screen.
if not falling on the screen it will also survive a fall (mine did twice already because its so darn slim...) but a big screen phone should NEVER be dropped on the screen or it will break even with gorilla glass.
theres some really need really slim protectors that cost only a few bucks or if you want a design printed on it its about 6/8 dollar that will make the phone just a slight bit more secure and i would advice those.
personaly i have the phote phone with this cover on it.
http://www.ebay.nl/itm/271143424939?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
as you can see it barely makes the phone thicker but does give it a ting half a mm edge on the screen size which saves the font if on accident it lays on the screen side.
ir ofcourse als protects corners and the back.
hope this helps you :)
Guys, I have xperia mini pro and I am planning to buy this phone but I am a heavy user, gamer and I always use many apps at the same time, So I want to know if this phone can do multi-tasking without lag or delay!? Can I play HD or 3D games on this phone without lags!? Can this phone do native "Video Call" through the call options not over data connection like Samsung's devices or not!? The quality of the materials of the device is good enough to be with me for a long time or not cause I will not be able to change it for the next 2 years I think!? I will really very much appreciate your feedback guys specially from users of the phone.. Thanks in advance.

AnonD-119942, 04 Mar 2013Pino, have you installed LG quadgear or just quadgear? I read in XDA that once you scale down ... moreforget to mention that im doing 10 tests and take the average from those so its gonna take a bit but i can see the difference in preformance by running antutu benchmark :) its clearly slower (8500 points ) with this app enabled then without it enabled (11500 points).
so i guess that when i disable it i get my old duration back for sure.
AnonD-119942, 04 Mar 2013Pino, have you installed LG quadgear or just quadgear? I read in XDA that once you scale down ... morei installed QuadGearBox for Optimus 4x HD made by domenukk.
not sure if it works but this is the link : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.domenukk
and its correct some people have issuewith the app posted on xda but this is another one.
this one doesnt allow changing the MHZ of the cpu at all it just changes power management and to my understanding disables 2 cores.
or apps are unable to read 4 cores wit this enabled both are a option still.
it states it changes power management from preformance to efficiency which seems logical as the gain is only 1 hour 15 min rather then a few hours but i have bin unable to read 4 cores since i enabled it.
this app gives nothing more then a checkbox so is verry easy to use HOWEVER most apps need to be forced closed to disable this feature (so the cores arent in use) and you might need to tap it several times.
but it hasnt gotten stuck for me ever so id say its completely safe.

the Ascend D quad is also good specwise.

I've never been happier with a phone than with the 4X HD. I have the phone since 4 months now and it never lets me down in performance. Apps and websites load very fast. Also multitasking works really good and smooth. I'm impressed by the screen quality especially while watching hd movies on youtube. The camera makes nice pictures, and also I'm glad that the back has this ribbled texture, which doesn't make the phone feel slippery or create those ugly fingerprints that you see on those glass back like for example the Xperia Z. If you take the price/quality thing in consideration, this IS the best choice you can make.
