If you want to make an mp3 ring tone (or any tone) as notification tone, just cut/copy then paste the file in the notifications folder using file viewers (e.g. Polaris Viewer (default in the phone)). If you want an mp3 ringtone as your ringtone, what I did to me is I go to Music and long press a music file, then select "use as ringtone".
This phone is ridiculous, used it for literally 5 mins and swapped back to my old phone. Texting on this phone is so hard as the size of the buttons are tiny. I'm a petite girl and don't have fat fingers so can't imagine what it would be like for a man with big hands! Wouldn't recommend.

I have recently purchased this phone, and its great! the only minor let down was that it hasnt got much memory for apps. but overall its perfect. :)
I bought LG Optimus L3, and I find it to be a very good little phone for it's price. It is relatively cheap (only $125), small, compact, easy to carry (easily fits into almost any pants or shirt pocket) smartphone with a good battery life (a fully charged battery lasted for over 3 days). Yet, it is powered by Android 2.3 with all the capabilities of that system! The phone doesn't lag, the interface is very responsive, has no bugs or glitches. The phone is well made, the quality of material is good, and it is likely to be reliable!
The design is pretty stylish, unlike most of today's smartphones, which all look almost the same! My only complaint is a very low-resolution screen, which ruins the whole impression about this phone. The picture quality is really crap! LG could have really done a better job with the display! Otherwise, it is a great phone, especially for it's price, and, if you don't mind a low-res and low-quality display, I definitely recommend buying it!
This is a very awesome phone so far inspite of the low internal memory. But atlast i have found a solution for it. Use the pre-installed POLARIS VIEWER to move your applications, photos and music to your SD.
