Wi-fi settings: Go to settings->wireless & networks->check the Wi-Fi option, then goto Wi-Fi settings. The available wi-fi networks will be displayed there. Select the network you want to connect to. Make sure that the 'wi-fi' and 'network notification' box are always checked so that you will immediately be made aware of any available wi-fi network in the notification bar. The notification bar also has a wi-fi toggle button which is the first button from left.
GPRS settings:settings->wireless & networks->mobile networks->check the 'data enabled' box->access point names->select the gprs network (for example mobile office in airtel. Make sure that gprs settings are active on your phone. Confirm this from the service provider)Gprs toggle button is the 4th from left in the notification bar.
Note:If you are connected to a wi-fi network and accidently switch on the gprs(data enable),wi-fi will be preferred.Check the gprs or data enable mode only when you cannot connect to a wi-fi network(i.e. it is locked or out of coverage area)

Hey can any user plz tel me about the hardwar of this phone? Is it robust and durable. I plan to continue wid the fone for a long time. So wil the hardware help in this. And how is the build of this fone.
I bought this phone yesterday and I love the actual phone itself and all that however yesterday I could also access the internet and there was a G sign at the top. Now when I try to connect I cannot, I can only connect through Wifi. When I check my network settings it can only connect to GSM or WCDMA what are these? In my old phone to connect to internet it went through gprs/edge. So whats wrong I'm really frustrated and considering to return it back.

Anup, 14 Jan 2011Hi Neo,
I want to use the LAN internet(office) or the wired internet on the PC to my Opt One ... moreHi,
What you want to do is known as 'reverse tethering' and it's not possible on android unless the phone is rooted(rooting is not safe as it may brick your phone). You can share your phone's internet to the pc, but not the other way around. You can connect to the internet by getting a wireless router and do it via wifi. If you have a wifi card in your computer you can actually turn your computer into a wifi hotspot, provided it is also connected to the internet. But you need windows 7 for that(there's an app called 'connectify' for that). It can also be done with windows phone. Unfortunately it's a Windows Phone only feature. You can use your computer to set up a ad hoc network that your phone will connect to. However android doesn't support adhoc so you'll need to have a rooted phone.
There is an App you might try PDANet. Search the web for it.
vicky, 14 Jan 2011Really good Post everyone who trouble with Batt. life can do this simple logic and improve Bat... moreHi,
The space on the memory card/phone memory is only required to store the app, cache files and data(the settings and accounts for that app) of the application which is being run on the phone. The cache and data space required is only a few MBs, so it doesn't affect the speed with which the app runs on the phone. What affects the speed with which the app runs are the RAM and processor speed. RAM is like a virtual workspace that is used while an application is running. Think of it this way: A person sitting and working at a desk. The person is the processor, the physical desktop is the RAM. Processor and RAM are both important. They will both affect how fast/slow applications run. The processor is controlling the speed at which data is processed and the RAM is the 'workspace' the processor is using to process that data. So they both have an impact. RAM is used by both OS and application software. Devices with more RAM can run more complex software and multiple applications at the same time. We need to kill/force stop certain apps even when they are 'idle' so as to free CPU cycles, RAM and prevent the app from draining battery power. Also, the android OS is hardwired to free up RAM when required.
Anup, 14 Jan 2011I cannot connect to LG PC suite IV. It doesn't detect the phone even if I turn on mass storage... moreHi,
First of all go to settings->SD card and phone storage->uncheck 'Mass storage only' option. Now connect the phone to the PC via USB. A green android bot will appear which will notify you that the USB is connected. Now you have 2 options:
1)Select 'Turn on USB storage' on the phone. The green bot will now turn orange.(Alternatively, you can open the notification bar and press upon 'Select to copy files to/from your computer') Now you can access your memory card through your computer. To disconnect press 'Turn off USB storage' on the phone
2)To connect via PC suite: When the green bot appears, don't select 'turn on usb storage'. Just open PCsuite and select 'connect phone'. Now you will be able to sunchronize your phone with the PC and also be able to update your phone.
