I am in the latter group. This problem is very similar to the RROD problem Microsoft had with the first generation of Xbox 360, and even they were quick to abandon trying to repair the PCB and moved to a complete console replacement. It's obvious a suit at the head of LG's mobile division has calculated the cost of recalling and replacing the phones will be greater than the cost of lost customers.
I'm also getting terrible treatment from my LG service center despite already giving them money. I actually wasn't that upset that my phone bootlooped because I got a chance to get all the data off it. My attitude has since changed since visiting the LG service center *multiple* times now. I wish I took the money I gave to them to repair my phone and just put that towards buying a completely new phone now.
It's interesting because up until last month I've been using LG phones for the last 3.5 years now and been nothing but a fan up to this point. That's all changed now and it's not because of a defective phone but how their service center has handled it. They could have made it right and made me an even more loyal LG customer. They chose not to.

The g4 had a boot loop issue, the problem was that the phone won't boot up. They actually recognize it (take a while but they repair for free now). Its not even close to the note 7 issue. That dam thing explode in you face or could burn down your house while you are a sleep. Don't mix things up. They had no choice then did a recall

After seeing how Samsung handled the Note 7 recall it actually gives me a lot more confidence to buy Samsung knowing they will do the right thing even if it costs them billions. Can't say the same for LG unfortuately.

Anonymous, 10 Mar 2017I actually also thought people were making bootloop to be a bigger problem than it really was,... moreI have had 2 G4s Bootloop and still think it is so...if you go over the numbers, the only device that has had reports over that of normal defect level is the G4, no other device. So by counting every one, if we want to be fair we have to then look at every other device from every manufacturer's defect level problems.

Cindy, 20 Feb 2017May I know LG V20 is great? Because I want to buy between LG G5 or LG V20, but still confuse. Please go for LG v20, it is very much better
Fabio, 08 Mar 2017I've just bought V20, it's really great in performance, very sensitive finger print sensor, to... moreConsidering a couple of things, A: a converter is used, and B: USB-C isn't regulated well. So I could reason that since the end of the drive is hot, its an issue within the port, most likely a bad pin connection, which ends up drawing more power, thus more heat, through the converter heating it up as well.
I've just bought V20, it's really great in performance, very sensitive finger print sensor, tough built, good screen display, good sounds. And yes it's using type-c usb port.
Already try to plug micro usb OTG thumb drive using micro usb to type-c converter, accessed it for just around 5-10 minutes, the converter already hot! Also the tip of my thumb drive.
Anyone got the same problems with me? What could be the problem? Thanks.

Pink colour is available on a very healthy discount rate on Amazon! And my wife would love that colour! I'm aware of bootloop issues in previous models, is it still there in v20? What would you advise, is it worth to buy?
That's the best phone. because it's ram is very fast and takes a good pictures and I am using 3gb of game in it and even it does not hang.

While the glass is a larger piece and more susceptible to focal pressure, it hasn't become the "shattergate"(horrible name) that some people assumed it would be.

AJ, 02 Mar 2017I'm considering buying a V20, my only issue is the power button/finger print scanner on the ba... moreI just tested it and double tapping the screen did wake it up period so you would just swipe and put in your PIN after that period but I work in an office to and keep my phone on the desk and I just kind of pick up the phone and place my fingerprint on the back and it automatically unlocks for me. So it seems like more steps are involved if you don't pick it up and instead want to just use the main screen
