keira, 11 Jul 2018does this phone suffers from image retention?Yes. It started after a couple of months on mine (got it at the beginning of March) and seems to be getting worse.
AnonD-748982, 12 Jul 2018I surprise by LG V20 photo quality. Even 2017 and 2018 still no match except for ip7,ip8 and X... moreActually, even the iphone 7/7+, 8/8+, and iPhone X can't beat the LG V20 in low light. The very slow shutter and low ISO used by the iPhones cause motion blur and poor focus. Here, see for yourself (pay particular attention to Sponge Bob, the dollar bill and the donkey) :

keira, 11 Jul 2018does this phone suffers from image retention?Temporary screen retention, yes. All LCD panels do, in varying degrees. However, you should remember it is not the same as the PERMANENT screen burn in frequently seen in amoleds/oled displays. The former (in LCD displays) goes away when display is off for a while (back to zero % retention everytime) while in the latter (in amoled/oled displays) it stays permanently imprinted and increases in total screen area with time.

Anonymous, 11 Jul 2018i just got a security update july 2018 i think oreo is not happeningYes, you're probably right. A July 2018 security update, an unusually long six months update after the last security update of January 2018 can only mean Oreo is not coming soon (if ever). If it does come, I suspect it will be further delayed to November 2018. It's probably a sales strategy by LG to release the LG V40 first (likely in September or October 2018) ahead of the Oreo update for the V20 in November 2018 to ensure better sales for the newer LG V40 flagship. Many V20 owners by then, may consider buying the LG V40 instead, if it is already released before the Oreo arrives for their V20 (which will be 2-years old by then). LG will then have a valid reason NOT to update the V20's Oreo further to Android Peanut butter the following year as the V20 will be beyond the normal 2-year software support period. Certainly makes sense for LG, delaying Oreo for the V20 to the second year to be able to provide only one Major Android software update for the V20. But NO, I won't buy an LG V40 ever especially since it will have the same reduced/dumbed down features as the V30: no removable battery, no ir blaster, no dedicated sd card slot, an ugly 18:9 notched, screen burning amoled screen, and without slimport and without an 'LTE only' feature.

And this is not acceptable for the manufacturers community.

All LG phones h... moreActuality i used almost all the brands one by one, most of them are really disappointed regarding updates, its really terrible thing that we buy a most costly flagship device and wait for latest os for more then 1.5 years, why we are getting these expensive devices if we are helpless to upgrade ourselves with latest softwares? For up to date with latest versions an Android user should buy pixel phone or Android one devices, which are really less sweetness then devices with other brand's own skins, all brands should reconsider about update plans of thier flagship devices at least, Sony is much better then others but not perfect 😞

All LG phones have horribly slow or non-existent updates. For people where software updates are very important, they should go with Xiaomi phones.
The best and the unlucky phone ever, V20 was the 1st phone with Android 7.0 out of the box, even before launching 1st Pixel phone, but after that this device is a neglected one ever by LG, its doesn't get even Android 7.1 yet, i don't know what is the reason behind but yes LG has totally neglect their 2016 Best Flagship device which is still best smart phone from LG, Android P arriving soon, i think max after couple of month it will be launch, and we Lg V20 users are still waiting for Android O, some news are telling that Oreo update of V20 is coming in August, so what? Its too late to experience the latest OS version in my device.. very depressive policies by LG CO. Limited :(
g6 user, 09 Jul 2018 and who said that ips panels doesn't suffer with screen burning .... you should research more... moreNo, you should research more. Screen burn in is NEVER an issue with ips as what one normally sees as 'screen burn' in an ips LCD display is temporary screen retention. If there is any permanent burn in, it is so to a negligible extent when compared to the several times higher magnitude PERMANENT screen burn in that can happen to amoled/oled/p-oled displays under the same time frame. Here, read this:

Even the Samsung Note 8 cannot outperform the V20 in photo excellence... moreOooops sorry lol need to read things twice 8-), but yeah the LG V20 even outperforms the Pixel 2 XL in these tests which is really impressive, especially if you add Gcam into the mix the V20 seems like a very liable option for high end mobile photography which can stand on its own even with 2018 flagships.
