adsubzero, 02 Oct 2017iPhone 6 was released in September 2014, and HTC One M7 was released in March 2013. Who copied... moreI know that very well buddy- I owned the HTC M7. Yes CrApple did copy the metal and antenna lines design in a way but what was worse was the half the industry (esp all Chinese brands) then just went berserk and ripped off the iPhone 6 design shamelessly!
When Apple does something, it becomes an industry standard so nobody got inspired by HTC but when Apple did the same, everyone imitated them!
At the risk of digressing far from the V30 for which this forum is, I used to like OnePlus when they burst onto the scene and claimed smartphone killer- the One+ one and One+ 2 were nice phones- they were unique in design and stood apart from the crowd. Then One+ suddenly thinks its a good idea to copy the iPhone for the One+ 3 and 3T.
Now as you said then you are designing a glass slab there's no much scope to differ drastically but there's a thin line between inspiration and rip off- iPhone 6 took the design principle from HTC and put their own spin on it- camera placement, rounded sides, body colours etc. But when you copy the iPhone 7+ dual cameras, their placement, antenna lines, even the damn mic and flash the way OnePlus did, it is moronic!! I for one (pun intended) wouldn't want to be seen dead with this carbon copycat!
I've made my point and rest my case, again apologies for discussing all this here.

So iPhone actually copied someone else. Weird how that goes huh?
With this rectangular slab form factor there will always be some inspirations, or designs borrowed from earlier devices, it's practically impossible to come up with something 100% original.
Yeah the OnePlus 5 is a bit similar.
Great Mobile and Amazing V series!
but I miss secondary screen little bit my name was visible all times on it lol
I hope V40 comes with 8mp f1.9 selfie at least and 4K 60fps & super slow motion
DeVille, 02 Oct 2017So LG answers and we too bury our heads in the sand like ostriches and deny that there's a gen... moreOh boy, you should have not told that to me. As there is no person on this site that knows LG better than me. And i am serious when i say that. And i am human, not an ostrich, so no, i am not putting my head in sand. I have done my researches and they are not final, so i have my right to trust LG, not as the guy who knows nothing, but rather as the one that knows something (so i dont say everything, as obviously noone knows everything). As for "it works the same way as Samsungs AMOLED", i was referring to its Active Matrix OLED. POLED is nearly AMOLED just on plastic substrate and it has Active Matrix as AMOLED does (actually, even Samsung uses plastic substrate on their S8's OLED, because plastic can be curved, as it is on the edges). And POLED is just the name that LG has given to their OLED as obviously they cant call it AMOLED because Samsung is using that name. All in all, there are differences in manufacturing materials (except that on S8 family and V30 they used the same materials), calibration, and software. And my guess is that there is problem with calibration or software (GS8 had Red Tint which was fixed with software update, calibration of colors)

And if "that's how AMOLED works" then why doesn't it work the same way in Samsung's flgaships?

I saw all those tests but LG answered that its POLED works the same way as AMOLED and so its the way how it works, there are no defects.
DeVille, 02 Oct 2017It's so much of an iPhone clone that it's embarrassing it was announced and released before iphone....
you could say the iphone is so much of a clone after this one ;)
FeederEater, 29 Sep 2017If you have heard about the imbalanced color problems on V30 than you should already know that... moreUmm....looks like y'all haven't read the GSMarena review of the V30. Yes, both use same technology but the panels are different so it is very possible that aren't the same quality
"Unlike Samsung's AMOLEDs, the V30's screen does show some illumination in the blacks....V30 posts high marks for contrast, out of reach for most LCDs, yet falling short of Samsung's finest....V30's color rendition degrades quite noticeably when viewed at an angle - it gets even bluer. We haven't observed this with recent Samsungs."
So as you can see, it's more than just white balance of the display. While it's still way better than LCDs it may be unfortunately inferior to Samsung's LEDs.
And here's the article that started it all and it's from Ars Technica mind you- https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/09/lg-v30-hands-on-lgs-oled-displays-still-have-quality-issues/
HOWEVER, there is hope - these were all pre-production samples so let's see if LG has found a fix for the retail units. May be that's why they're taking forever to launch the phone outside Korea?? (But then again, there are reports that Korean customers have complained about the same display issue)
I like the V30 and in many ways even prefer it to Note8 but if the screen is flawed it will be a deal-breaker for me...I'm OCD about displays and can't live with shoddy quality
kerginaldo17, 29 Sep 2017The Oneplus 5 is the best option now.$440 ou $900/1000?It's so much of an iPhone clone that it's embarrassing
Pinscher, 01 Oct 2017I was really hoping for LG to continue with the removable battery. Why would they stop? now ... moreGetting rid of a removable battery does give you water/dust resistance though. Just in case.
pwm oled on the low brightness ? pwm oled it is dangerous to the eyes !
I was really hoping for LG to continue with the removable battery. Why would they stop? now I will not upgrade my V20 for no reason other than there was a nicer phone out.
Time to start the hunt for a suitable phone again.
Nowadays, no phone is perfect. The LG V30 is about 96% of perfection. Dear.
Anybody ownership of V30 must give front selfie camera results, it's wide angle but MP 5. Price negotiated be exchanged.
jjfz, 01 Oct 2017HTC ugly bulkyHahaha...seems never saw HTC U11 Solar red or Amazing silver
