MediaTek Misc

Today MediaTek unveiled a new chipset model to join the popular Helio series - the Helio P15. It's a successor of the widespread Helio P10 with minor performance and battery optimizations.

The Helio P15 packs an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and employs Mali-T860 MP2 (dual-core) GPU ticking at 800MHz. The original P10 chip has the same processor running at 2.0GHz and the same GPU clocked at 700MHz.

MediaTek promises a 10% performance increase over the previous generation and better power efficiency. The Helio P15 chips will be manufactured on the same TSMC 28nm process as the P10, so the battery improvements won't be that big.

There is still no info on the supported RAM, but the chip is reportedly opting for the same single-channel LPDDR3-933 memory.

Finally, the Helio P15 is LTE-capable with a support for LTE Cat.6.

There is no info on the Helio P15 availability, but we guess it will make it to various budget devices very soon.
