MeeGo 1.1 for handset released, Nokia N900 users can taste it now

Nokia Maemo MeeGo Touch UI

After MeeGo 1.0, which was unveiled back in June 2010, you can now welcome the MeeGo 1.1 for handsets. It is now available for download so you can give it a try straight away if you have a Nokia N900 and you're feeling adventurous enough to dual boot it along with Maemo.

The MeeGo 1.1 download link is here and it's compatible with Nokia N900 alright. As the video below reveals, the new MeeGo 1.1 brings U-Boot support to the Nokia N900, which means dual booting MeeGo and Meamo is finally possible as it was announced some time ago.

However, before you head for the website with the files you need to get the MeeGo 1.1 up and running on your Nokia N900 smartphone, let's remind you that you do that on your own risk - Nokia doesn't offer support for the MeeGo-running N900 officially and cannot be held responsible if something goes wrong.

you dont just image the sd card...you also have to install the meego kernal on the handset. without it the handset wont know that it needs to boot off the memory card when it is inserted. read the instructions fully....if you dont feel confident ...

i agree with you 100%. this is due to the lack of support from Nokia.
