Microsoft's focus is functionality, duo doesn't have any unnecessary features, it will most probably create a new trend. And as the benchmarks say, Microsoft has optimized duo very well, even with last years specs and 6gb ram duo outperforms almost all the phones of 2020 with better processors and ram. waiting for this phone eagerly.
MS you missed your train again. No 5G. Too bad.
The word is out: CLIPPY (clippit) the annoying assistent will be back and live in the duo!
The Best fold Device on the market
Not ideal for frequent texter, so much hassle opening the device especially in public. Also when you are calling someone without using a wireless headset. This device is optimized for indoor use.
I think the design is brilliant... I believe Microsoft wanted to create a small surface tablet platform that fits in your pocket and also functions as a phone. They wanted to keep it as thin as possible and still allow you to be productive in this online world. It doesn't need to have the best camera or NFC. I have had a couple phones with NFC and barely used it at all. Who really needs more than one camera except those spending the whole day taking selfie's. I have a Surface Duo on preorder and can't wait for it to arrive.
hmm, 20 Aug 2020Unfolded: 186.9 x 145.2 x 4.8 mm
Folded: 145.2 x 93.3 x 9.9 mm
How does this make sense ? ... more145 is the height!
The screen is not that big compared to some modern phones.
It is geared for productivity but I wish the bezels were smaller.
I don't think this works well as a a phone, that you would hold in one hand. Folded, it is a couple mm wider than the Blackberry Passport (2014) -- which had been widely criticised for how wide it is.
Unfolded, it is a 8" tablet.
It should therefore best be viewed as a tablet -- with phone functionality.
You could keep it in your bag or a jacket pocket and use a wireless headset and smartwatch to make calls and check notifications. Then when you really need to use an app on a screen, then you would pull it out.
There are some glaring flaws also. Tablets usually have larger batteries and a headphone jack. It lacks NFC needed for secure pairing of Bluetooth peripherals.
The wide borders is not a flaw: those are necessary for how you hold a tablet.
That usage scenario above is probably too uncommon, and the price is not competitive. I therefore predict that this will (like the Blackberry Passport) be a big flop.
I'm hoping to pick up one for cheap for my collection in five years though.
Unfolded: 186.9 x 145.2 x 4.8 mm
Folded: 145.2 x 93.3 x 9.9 mm
How does this make sense ? Folded 93.3mm wide and unfolded 145.2 only ? So one side of the phone tablet or what ever this is is 51.9mm wide only ?
Radek, 13 Aug 2020It's not a phone. It doesnt fit anywhere except thn folding phones or maybe im unaware of some category

its mentioned here.

Do people not realize this has a dual 3577 mAh under each screen? Also, the innovation with this product is top notch. This device is not focused to be a phone.
Surface with Android, why?
Just why?
DreamzSolution, 18 Aug 2020You do realize its a dual 3577 battery right?

-Still cost over $1200
-Only has SD855 instead of a 865+
-6gb of ram for a $1000+ phone is a joke in 2020, at least 8GB+
>yes its still expensive but it's also a Surface and for the market it is targeting, the price will ironically add to the illusion of how premium it is, kind of like iPhone
-lol what are you smoking?? this phone is running android 10, there are so many cheaper android phones out there with better specifications. And exactly who is it targeting??
P.S: im actually surprised there are people actually defending this joke of a product from microsoft. This phone will fail, in terms of sales.
Mike, 16 Aug 2020Fail I think, people nowadays want a phone with good camera, bigger battery. These are the bas... moreYou do realize its a dual 3577 battery right?
It also doesn't use demanding camera software or other features that add to battery drainage. So dual 3577 on the duo, is probably equivalent to a battery demanding device that has a 5000+ battery...if not even more efficient.
This also cuts down on the cost, regardless of how much profit they make on the device.
For a a device that is testing the waters, yes its still expensive but it's also a Surface and for the market it is targeting, the price will ironically add to the illusion of how premium it is, kind of like iPhone. $1000 would have been a sweetspot but I guess they count it as two premium mid-rangers.
Anonymous, 16 Aug 2020Well, that doesn't make sense. The price would have been way more for back then. Also, no... moreActually most phones do fine with 3-4GB RAM more is not really needed unless the user open and close heavy apps all the time...
Thank god they didn't go with the SD835 like the first rumors was...
Anonymous, 16 Aug 2020Why the thick bezels?.,its not 2010 anymore..Think about it for a sec, this phone is for people that work not jokers, do you think a serious person would be thrilled to see a punch hole on the spreadsheet they are working on?? That bezeless trend has nothing to do with modernity or high tech, it's just fashion.
