The point is that if you can't plan your battery usage, then you might want to reconsider using any portable devices, let alone phones. The Surface Duo seems quite excellent in terms of innovation.
Fail I think, people nowadays want a phone with good camera, bigger battery. These are the basics and then you can innovate atop of it. Dual screen is innovation but 3500 mAh battery in a device this size, when you have phones with 5000+ mAh batteries?

FullmetalJun, 15 Aug 2020It's 2cm too wide when folded. This isn't gonna fit in a pocketget bigger pockets then, duhhhhhhhhhhhh
Outside looks sheek. But unfold inside looks old tech. Like blast to the past, with such screen space and camera notch design, not worth the price. It would had been success if launch in early 2010.
If it had NFC and about twice as much battery I'd be extremely tempted. As it is, not so much.

The camera seems kinda bad, but like whatever, it’s not the focus of the device. The battery is tiny though.

it could be
Windows o/s 10 mobile,
intel mobile cpu

256/512 gb storage

You’re paying for the brand, design (unlike norm devices with same physical blueprint), tech, and vision of Microsoft for that kind of price. It may not be overwhelming on its specs sheet but let’s see how it performs in the long haul.
Anonymous, 15 Aug 2020Microsoft has it's own chips in the device to improve the battery lifeIt has a large screen and that takes power, no way around that so who knows, we need to see tests and reviews.
dbjungle, 14 Aug 2020I think this an interesting and possibly revolutionary idea. My biggest problems with it are ... moreThis device is all about usability, new ways to use the regular android OS to get yourself more productive, here's their demo:
Obviously many regular users don't need the versatility, for those paying the $1200-$1400 is out of the question.
Johnedlt, 14 Aug 2020Who will buy an un-proven $1400 phone? The galaxy fold was an unproven nearly $2000 phone and about a million have been sold.
And let me tell you, you run no risks with this device because it has no flexible screen, most of those screens are going to be failing one way or the other as time passes.
Worst thing it can happen to you with the DUO is that you don't find the device comfortable or useful and then you sell it.
