Last month we saw a couple of different leaks of a device that was said to be the Moto X (2017). First there were a some hands-on shots, then a bunch of renders. A contradictory report claimed that phone would actually be sold as the Moto C, but a new leak that appeared today reveals that it was actually the upcoming Moto G5 Plus all along. This should obviously serve as the successor to the G4 Plus from last year.
Someone is selling a G5 Plus prototype through an online marketplace in Romania, and the listing helpfully includes both the live pictures you can see below as well as a full list of specs and expected release date.
Let's start with that - the Moto G5 Plus is allegedly coming in March, which means it may become official at MWC in late February. The phone is said to have a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 13 MP main camera, a 5 MP selfie shooter, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, and a 3,080 mAh battery.
It runs Android 7.0 Nougat and has a fingerprint sensor on the front, underneath the display. The model number is XT1685. Interestingly, the listing is from January 4 and hasn't been taken down yet. If you're from Romania and want to play with the prototype of an unannounced smartphone, you can purchase this Moto G5 Plus, sans any accessories, for RON 1,650 (that's $387 or €366 at the current exchange rates).
Holy shit that is one ugly ass phone lol I hope the final version looks way better than this prototype.
Lenovo grows Moto's Top and bottom bezels with every model instead of growing with brand's already existing few USPs.
Better design than G4, but still not slim enough bezels and nothing really outstanding (like the Moto logo which was bulked into the body) to beat older G designs
