Moto Z3 Play specs revealed by FCC including Snapdragon 636 and 6.1" screen

Motorola Lenovo Android

We’ve got a general idea of what the phone might look like thanks to the leaked case renders. This includes a relocated fingerprint scanner and a dual camera setup on the back. We also saw a dual camera and a larger display.

The latest Motorola device has just gone through the FCC. First reported by Nashville Chatter Class, the FCC filing reveals a bunch of details about Motorola’s flagship line midranger. Starting off, the phone’s model number is XT1929.

The Moto Z3 Play will be available in 4GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB models. The phone packs a 3,000 mAh battery which powers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 which should yield great battery life.

Moto Z2 Play (2017)

The front of the phone will have a 6.1-inch display which will fit in the current-generation Moto Z chassis. We knew that the first and second generation Moto Z works with all Moto Mods, but we weren’t sure if Motorola was going to change the phone’s body for the Moto Z3.

The dimensions listed match the Moto Z2 Play’s so first-generation Moto Mods should work with the Moto Z3 Play and the future Moto Z3 flagship model.

The camera on the Play is a dual-camera system comprised of 12MP + 8MP dual sensors while the first camera gets a 5MP snapper. The SKUs list that the phone will arrive in Verizon, North American, Brazilian, and Latin American markets. There are dual SIM models headed to South America.

Pricing is not included in the FCC report but has been speculated to be priced between $450 and $500. This is definitely going to be Motorola’s Premium midrange offering but will anyone many folks be drawn to a mid-ranger in the $450 price range? With handsets with aggressive pricing like the (soon to be released) OnePlus 6 and the Honor View 10, perhaps Motorola should think about pricing aggressively as well.

The Moto Z3 and Z3 Play might be announced as soon as next month as the company's leadership changes. We’re not sure if the launch between the Play and flagship models will be staggered like last year but it’s plausible that Motorola will announced both the Z3 and Z3 Play together.

If this is priced aggressively and still has a headphone jack (because no G6 Plus), I might buy it.
