I just bought this model. Features are nice but the design has some flaws.
Impossible to flip open with one hand.
The Battery cover falls off all the time (especially when replacing the stylus). Almost impossible to hear a caller except in perfect silence - even with the volume turned all the way up.
Besides that - if you plan on texting anyone, you will have to use the stylus. The touch screen IS responsive and accurate but the on-screen keyboard is so small, only the stylus will allow texting.
The last thing I can say: If you need a phone that won't attract attention at the office, This phone has no way to disable or turn down the volume for Voice Command. If you accidentally press the button on the side, it will tell everyone in the room to "please say a name or command".

In GSM only countries, chances are A1800 will "not" be available as most people can't use its "CDMA" function.

And the "CDMA" chip would cost you an addition US$200...

blah, 14 Jul 2008prolly covers tend to crack over time.I've had the previous version, the A1200, over two years now and the cover's as strong as ever. I've never heard of any cover breaking under any cirucumstances that wouldn't have broken any phone. It's solid, high-impact plastic, far thicker than the individual layers of plastic in a normal clamshell cover.

In other words - you really don't have to worry about it cracking, probably not ever.
