Hey guys, i just purchased a defy two days ago and all was working brilliantly till i saw a small green dot appearing on the display. It is pemanenent and is not fading. (Mind u its a very small green dot smoewhere in the middle of the screen) Is that a software problem or a hardware issue. ? Should i take it to the customer care centre?

terry0400-40, 04 Feb 2011DEFY NOT WATER PROOF the Defy has never been declared by Motorola to be waterproof, also there... moreWhere I live Moto advertises the phone can be "submerged" in water with depth of up to 1 meter for 30 mins.

So if you dive in a pool below 1 meter, water is going to get in.

Though what other touchscreen smartphone can do the same, if not better, as of Feb 2011?

GSMArena says it supports pinch zooming but an Indian cell phone show cell guru said it doesn't have it. I believe GSMArena but they (show) actually did try it in the browser but it just didn't happen. reply from the owner of Defy is most welcome.

By far the best phone I have ever had. Easily keeps up with the much larger android tablet phones but in a much better package that fits nicely in your pocket. Don't let the specs on some of those larger, more expensive devices fool you. I've used them all and for some reason I keep on coming back to this one.
Keyboard - I love the feedback on the keyboard since it makes it feel more natural than using a real keyboard. Note that you need to switch to the standard input device to use this since this is not the default setting.
Screen - This is the same large, high resolution screen that you would get if you purchased the Droid 2 so it looks incredible.
Speed - Finally, when I want to impress someone by looking something up online for some quick fact checks I can do it without looking stupid staring at my little screen waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Surfing the net on this thing is almost comparable to using my desktop computer.
Phone and Connectivity - Yes, it makes great phone calls too. One area where no other cell phone company can compete with Motorola is in call quality. I always have a strong signal and the calls come through crystal clear regardless of the environment I'm in.
Durability - If your looking for a phone that can survive the day to day mishaps you have with our portable devices look no further. I have dropped this thing many times, taken under water video (not recommended), and it easily survives the scratch test when I accidentally through my car... (read more)

Durability - If your looking for a phone that can survive the day to day mishaps you have with our portable devices look no further. I have dropped this thing many times, taken under water video (not recommended), and it easily survives the scratch test when I accidentally through my car keys in the same pocket as my phone(this mishap has destroyed phone screens in the past).
Defy VS iPh*ne 4 - One of the best parts of owning this phone is when I get into this debate I can easily end it by holding my phone waist high and dropping it on the concrete. This is followed by picking it up and telling the iPhone 4 user that its his turn. At which point he cuddles his delicate little device like one of Moms pieces of china, slips it back in his pocket, and quietly walks away :)
Wi-Fi Calling - This is so cool. My office is set up in the basement, and unfortunately radio signals do not travel under ground very well. But, with WiFi calling the phone automatically switches over to use my wireless router to make crystal clear calls.
DLNA - This was a cool little feature. After launching the app I instantly had access to all my networked devices in my house. I could Copy, Paste, Delete, or Play any files I had on everything from my desktop to my wife's laptop, to my play station and my home server. (hide)
Pros: durable, long battery life, great screen, touch screen, great web browsing, great for texting, memory, dlna, wifi calling

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2011I got my Motorola Defy 3 months ago & not that impressed at all. I jumped in my pool and I... moreDEFY NOT WATER PROOF the Defy has never been declared by Motorola to be waterproof, also there is a huge difference in submerging this device in a glass of water or six inches of bathwater compared with having it meteres deep in poolwater.

I would say play it safe and do not temp providence by deliberately taking this dashing Defy for a swim.

I would challemge Motorola to actually take the bit between their teeth and produce a "water proof" and "shock proof" Motorola touch cell phone that works well and has a degree of charm...... ok boys is there intelligence enough within the great Motorola empire to envision sutch a product that will entice wow and move the cell phone loving population of this Earth

Hy guys. I am in the process of buying a new smart phone and I can not decide yet. Few days ago I was between HTC Desire and Legend. I decided for Legend because it fits perfectly in the hand, very compact and also resistant due to the aluminum uni-body, you can use the phone with only one hand (I am using sms a lot and yahoo messenger). But know seeing Defy I am a confused because this one is water-scratch-shock-dust-resistant, bigger screen, but I do not know how fast you can type on it, if you can use it easy with only one hand with no mistakes in typing, and I am also wondering about the battery and the speakers problems that were been reported.
If someone had both of them please give me an comparison review.
What is the best to have?
