The Motorola DROID, manufacturer´s first handset to run Android version 2.0 got announced by Motorola and Verizon yesterday. We reported directly from the event, showed you pictures and presented you with our hands-on review of the device. Aside from the official announcement of the handset, however, one more interesting thing happened. CEO of Motorola, Sanjay Jha stated the company planned to release at least 20 smartphones in 2010 alone. Unfortunately, the high-ranking executive didn´t mention what operating system these would be based on. Assuming the previous information we have about Motorola´s decision to pass on WM6.5 and wait for Windows Mobile 7 is true, guess they will run Android
danwalon, 28 Oct 2009does this phone like nokia n97 come with a store like ovi store to get facebook and other game... moreRegards to your post, its os system iz android(like the g1 and mytouch) so the android market is much bigger than the ovi store since it has been out longer. Hope that answers your question.
danwalon, 28 Oct 2009does this phone like nokia n97 come with a store like ovi store to get facebook and other game... morethe store's called marketplace and you need a google email account to access it. facebook comes on the phone anyway.
It’s running Android 2.0. Duh.
It’s thin. Just slightly thicker than an iPhone 3GS and the thinnest QWERTY-slider we’ve ever seen.
It is the fastest Android device we’ve ever used. (It’s running a TI OMAP3430 processor)
The feel of the device is very reminiscent of the OQO 02 model computer. Just smaller.
It’s metal with a non-spring-assisted slide, very sturdy, and half soft-touch plastic.
Awesome capacitive display. Plus it’s huge. Easily the best screen we’ve ever seen on an Android handset, and an amazing screen overall.
The QWERTY keyboard is actually pretty usable and has a soft-touch rubberized finish. We’ve been told the keyboard design isn’t final on this unit, thus the two no-shows. Have we mentioned this phone flies? It’s the Android device to beat, and easily the most impressive.
From what we’ve been told, Google had a direct hand in the Motorola Droid. Something to the point of almost dictating every move Motorola made when designing and making the phone. Interesting, huh? There’s a desktop cradle/charger that will ship with the Motorola Droid that we’ve been playing around with. It turns your Droid into a “multimedia station” and displays local weather, the time, etc. No one wants to listen, but it makes the CLIQ looks like a child’s toy (partly because it is, and partly because the Droid, even in its non-final form, is the most impressive phone we’ve used since the iPhone. It’s positively amazing).
quick office , facebook , youtube , gmail , google calender sync , google map with strrt view , google quick search box , search by voice , google talk , turn by turn direction , google set up , network location provider , google talk ,
1420 mah battery
Another cool feature is the ability to track your phone via assisted GPS if it gets lost. You can wipe it remotely and then all of your information is saved on the MOTOBLUR's servers. Pretty nifty.******
Quickoffice – The same app costs upwards of $12.99 on the iPhone, but Moto is including it for free

Looking at videos on the Motorola website, this is actually tempting me.. I think Motorola are starting to get there act together finally!
Anonymous, 27 Oct 2009what can I say? a litle ugly....$400 Unlocked Phone. Locked Phone $199
dont you wish you had a robot sidekick that moved at light speed ,could get out of any problem and lived in your pocket ??
soon you will
The Droid looks tempting. I actually have an Iphone3gs too and like it, but I get whatever suits my fancy. I actually have my eye on the Maemo OS that Nokia has on their latest smartphone. As far as the Droid being an Iphone killer, I think not. We all know that Apple is working on another Iphone for next year. This is competition though and I like it. It forces all manufacturers to up their game. If I did not have an Iphone, I would have either the Droid or get the unlocked N900 from Nokia.
It’s true, Droid news is flying all over the place like crazy. Ready for some more?
If any of you in the US are hoping for a version of the Droid on AT&T, you’re in luck. While a GSM version had passed the FCC just a few days ago, it only had 3G support for Europe;
