Almand, 29 Oct 2014I wonder how much extra batt power it would use for an external memory card A lot of the time... moreI'm not sure if its just the battery that gets affected by external memory slots, if I'm not mistaken it does affect the performance of the phone in general, which is the reason these phone manufacturers come up with when there's no expandable memory I fink.

A lot of the time Memory card gets corrupted and lose data too
Isn't it better to hav just one memory chip built in?!
Except the expansion memory card, this is a good one.
With 7.8mm depth, 3GB RAM and massive battery capacity.
mgm, 28 Oct 2014Specs are almost at ultimate level.. But no sd card slot make to think buy it or not.Will the Turbo have an HDMI output port?
Smartphone Info, 28 Oct 2014It looks SIMILAR like other rectangle motorola smartphones maybe cuz THIS IS A MOTOROLA SMARTP... moreI think it is probably worth pointing out that motorola/samsung/apple hardware really all looks the same. Shiny rectangle.
rondroid, 28 Oct 2014No SDcard slot. Hope it will support USB OTG just like my LG G3.😀Yes, it supports OTG.
Patres87, 28 Oct 2014Why no card slot again just why ??? This an expense and is the deal breaker for me...sdcard slot breaks water resistance, which is a feature of this device.
64 GB of internal storage is pretty decent. It certainly offers a lot more flexibility than older phones had... when eMMC was limited to 2-4 GB... or older, like the 256 MB NAND flash units. On those, you *HAD* to have an MMC slot just to store a few pictures.
But essentially, there are two more basic reasons for dropping MMC;
1) because end users will expect it to interoperate with windows, which means paying the MS tax in order to use an MS filesystem format, which yields highly unreliable storage.
2) because end users will do stupid things, like ripping the card out without unmounting it, causing filesytem corruption and program crashing.
On top of that, there are certain assumptions made about MMC cards, specifically involving data sharing. In the past, the MMC was the "dumping ground" for every program that you installed. Everything had access to data created by everything else. They're trying to do away with this concept and force applications to keep their data all separate. This is a very good thing for security, and you can always set things up to share data between different applications.
But more than that, even though they still implement a shared dumping ground for legacy support, it is by way of a fuse layer that redirects to a path on the *same partition* as the secured application data storage paths. That means that you don't have to differentiate between storage systems where you install static data (like music), programs that you install, or individual program storage.
It really simplifies a LOT on the developer's end, which allows US to focus on making everything better all around.
