To Peter S
Motorola E398 does not provide an option to have vibration and ring at the same time. You have vibration and, after a while, ringing tone. The vibration is not very long, so there is no risk to have people putting down the phone because you do not answer.
Please note that you can have vibration and ringing tone at the same time if you choose particular ringing tones: in this case the vibration is activated when the speaker cannot play the frequencies of the tone.

Other phones from Motorola offer vib+tone at the same time. Not all the other models but some of them do (for example, Motorola V535).

Been a long while since I used a motorola phone. A question about the vibration mode. I like my phone to vibrate and ring at the same time and it looks like the vibe then ring option is the only one. But thing is, unlike Nokia phones, it only vibrates and then rings after a while. That's not too good cos the vibration is pretty long and most people would put down the phone after just several rings. So I guess motorola phones work this way? Is this normal? Or is it possible to ring and vibe at the same time. Thanks.

Any of you guys here are members of motorolaE398@yahoogroups? An interesting fact in the files section of that group when installing your MPT is to remove the transflash card or the computer will read the phone as a storage media rather than a phone. True?

To levent

Under style it has the profile you have chosen eg. loud, vibe & ring ect. Select this scroll down to text msgs: and select it. Then choose the sound you would like.

Hey ^_^x , how did you come up with settings-->Ring Styles-->select profile-->text msgs? Because i don't have profile opton after ring styles and what have is only style, ring lights and event lights with 95R by default (no changes made with ringstyle menu, no seem editing or anything else) or are we talking about some other phone? :D

To the one signing ^_^x

I do care. I have too many things to do during my working time that prevent me from constantly recall to switch profile. Increasing volume plus vibrating alert always on minimize the number of profile switches. That's why almost every phone provide those options.

regards

Despite sluggish operation with a ISP customized 95R S/W, I upgraded it to 96R through motoservice....now the HP operates smoothly!!!

The few complains are the somewat sluggish control when SMSing and playing MP3s at the same time. And also the weak battery endurance. Otherwise, this phone kicks ass.

Anyone know the exact memory size of the messages? I got a "memory almost full" at 65 inbox and 65 outbox. anyway to increase the size?

I'm correcting my latest comment with this one "unfortunately there is a limit n it doesnt depend on how much MB you have for some reason when it approaches 100 to 130(depending on the size of your msgs) the limit has been reached regardless of how much free space you have on your phone's internal memory". Thx.

gennaro there is 2 quick ways to put your phone on silent the 1st is just turn the volume down (with keys located at the top left side of phone). This will go like this 6,5,4,3,2,1,vibrate,silent. the 2nd way is to make a short cut (on my phone it is right on joystick) which will take you straight to ring styles. Then you just hit enter and select silent.

May be I'm too dumb to use this too cool phone but I have a simple question: how can I change the tone of an incoming SMS? Actually it is a very long melody and I can't even disable it (the option "Menu>Messages" end then "Menu>Message Setup>SMS Alert:Off" does not seem to work)

Thanks in advance.
