This phone rocks !, I just bought and I've been meddling with it for the past couple of days. I'm happy after reading all the reviews and getting what I expected.
Just one question> Is it possible to assign and mp3 to a ringtone of a contact? if so please let us know.

DEAR ALL E-398 USERS,
I was a 2 months user of e-398.
My Opinion abt tis phone :
1. Very reliable.
2. Full featured.
3. Camera w 4x really works fine... and not jerky even in night mode with short distance flesh.
4. Java games. runns fine with original e-398 games. If enable java app loader, some more good. Can support most of the others J2ME games from nokias, and other models. only few cannot run (shows "apps error")
5. Powerfull messaging. Able to remember prev. words that had been typed which is not in the dictionary. able to select the ascii characters easily.
6. Really Fantastic display. (crystal clear screen with good cover on top) not easily get scratch.
7. Clear & sharp 3D speakers Loud with powerful handfree speakers. (no need extra mp3 players.)
8. V.fast GPRS / WAP connections.
9. Bluetooth makes perfect. Able to c all the folders in the tranflesh card and do file transfer without using M.Phone tool s/w.
10.Very friendly calculator, datebook & multiple schduling Alarms.
11. Helpful rythmatic lights helps when phone is in silent mode (meeting time)
12. MPEG 4 playback works fine. No jerkings.
13. Very nice soft covers makes a good grip.
14. changeable thames c/w nice screen saves.
there are more a lot. My opinion, Moto had make a big movement for this phone rather than prev models which are hard to use.
ONLY thing i quite NOT Satisfied with this phone is : The phone book which unable to search the specific names as E-365. ( 1 letter based searching)
Anyone knows how to makes the searching faster?
For gamers, pls refer to prev. forum on how to enable java apps downlaoding! mine running fine.

Hi there!Bought my e398 and love it, yes pitty about it not having video filming capbilities tho, is there any software that I can download to enable it to do so?
Aslo where can I go to download different skins for the phone?
One last thing, is there some kind of special way to set the resolution on the camera side, because I have seen some of the other sites that do reviews on this phone and the pictures that they supposedy took with the phone look a hell of a lot clearer than the ones that I can take.

Hi,
Regarding to many of the post related to SMS memory storage etc etc., yeah it is possible to store it in Phone memory you just need to SEEM edit it !! plus you can get rid of those clubland video and Motorola wallpapers which you cannot delete it to free phone memory, you can ofcourse load more mp3's on TransCard by squeezing the MP3 by softwares like "Audiolib MP3 convertor" which you can use to squeeze the BITRATE from 192kbps into 64kbps or even 48kbps. the quality ofcourse is quiet same. ofcourse you dont expect a Full Dolby performance in your E398 :D. :: PLus there are lots of tweak to Increase the Ringtone Volume further, increase the SpeakerPhone volume (Earpiece volume) etc etc which you can do using SEEM editing software like P2Kman. PLease understand how to use such softwares before messing with your phone.

I would like to know if motorola E398 can be upgraded to a video camera like nokia 7650 phones. I also set the auto cleanup messages to 20 mgs. but it still exceed and always prompt me full memory. Please help me on this.

hey can anyone plzz tell me which type of memory cards can it read instead of t-flash and the mp3s can be played from memory card right?? just to listen..? in pakistan its for 16000 and k700 for 18500

can we store SMS in memory other than sim memory.

I think it's good phone.It could be better design,but features is really nice.It has only one small problem,the polyphonics.It sounds not so well as i heard.

Hi frenz, I have a motorola e398. Its really a nice phone. but does anyone know how to install java applications on the phone. i tied copying them on the phone memory using multimedia tools but it showed an error. then i copied it on my mmc but now the phone doesn't show them. pls help me.
And can we record videos thorugh this phone if yes pls tell me how.
