zorba, 06 Nov 2009ok how are they introducing this phone in north america when it doesn't have the north america... moreYes, as the anonymous just said, it's called motorola droid here.
And it's locked with Verizon (no SIM card).
Actually, the motorola droid was announced before his GSM equivalent (the milestone).
The good thing about the milestone : it has SIM card (So virtually usable with any network).
The bad thing about the milestone: it looses the free GPS google map app (which is pretty neat on the Droid).
Other than that, it's exactly the same phone.
ok how are they introducing this phone in north america when it doesn't have the north american 3G bands?
I like to see multitouch on this if any one using it plz tell me ur exp with it
well, it's out with verizon today.
So anybody living in the US can go play with it in the store.
Even better, Verizon offers a 30 days trial.
Yep, that's right. you can pay the price of the phone, start a plan, and if you don't like it you can return it within 30 days and verizon will give you your money back (for the phone, not the plan, of course...).
Personally, I tried it in the store, and I'm not really crazy about the Android 2.0 (eclair).
But it's a personal choice.
I'm sure a lot of people will love it.
The phone itself looks really nice in hands.
Motorola did a good job!
The whole Google map app runs flawlessly.
The browser might not run as fluid as the iPhone 3Gs, but just the fact to have a real keyboard makes it worth it (no matter what people think about virtual keyboard, I prefer physical keyboard because you can type while you still have the whole screen for the browser or your SMS).
I'm still gonna wait for the N900 (which is rumored for next week) because from what I saw on every videos online, the maemo software seems to correspond more to my needs than the Android 2.0 (again, personal choice).
But what i really like about the Motorola droid compare to the N900 is:
- voice command (plus it works perfectly... no kidding)
- capacitive touch screen (I'm not saying capacitive is better, I actually enjoy using resistive more (You can't beat the accuracy of a resistive combined to a stylus), but what I like about capacitive is: it's scratch free, the screen of my iPod touch still looks neat after 2 years without any kind of protection).
But let me tell you this: my decision in favor of the N900 might also be influenced by the fact that I'm still under contract with AT&T.
But if I wasn't, I would probably think twice about Motorola Droid.
I mean $200 after rebates instead of the $600 for the N900. That the kind of "detail" that makes you think twice. (plus the incredible 3G network offered by Verizon)
Oh! How I wish AT&T was offering the N900!
This phone is alright. I still won't replace my iphone 3gs though.
Poor internal memory. Video recording is only 24fps. Processor is slower than my iphone 3gs' 600mhz. And it has limited apps.
SE X10 seems to be a better option when I get tired of my iphone. Or, might as well wait for the next gen iphone.
This would be a good choice along with the n900, for those who do not have the iphone 3g or 3gs. Congratulations to Motorola though for finally stepping up to the competition.
i think this phone is way a head of it's time, it is by far the best phone i have seen in a while. it as a sleek look and all the buttons are placed where they should be, over all it is a head of a lot of the other brands i have looked at. and as soon as it is released to the market i will be sure to acquire one, it be wonderful to have this phone for Christmas.

ah really?! it has secondary camera??wow!!
it's currently the perfect phone on the planet..
iphone is expensive but no camera flash and no secondary camera..what a shame on iphone
Loud, clearly audible call, vibration is not so good, but felt. The quality of the model is interesting, pretty. В In general, I have no complaints about her on this parameter, all excellent.
Given that the main phone number I have is the Nokia N97, and the second - HTC Hero, I got a Motorola Milestone combination of both models. Flexibility, speed interface Hero with a keyboard, surpassing Nokia N97. The decision turned out surprisingly excellent, well lie in the hand, dear to execution. From the screen in full delight, good. And the phone in the long run turned out good.
For those looking for a QWERTY-device with maximum performance, enjoyable and fast interface, this model is almost ideal. The market is not so much of such machines, it may be Nokia N900, which is much slower, less stable and has no comparable functionality out of the box. To my taste, here the choice is unambiguous, and it is not in favor of Nokia.. Perhaps, this model really should be named a landmark or a terminator. The device has turned the noble and obviously will be noticeable on the market. For those who enjoy luxury, well-made things, it is a very interesting choice.
According to this link,it has DLNA and secondary videocall camera!
Sorry iDont lovers but you've been defeated. Flawless Victory, Mercy with Animality. You're just hurt because people are finally starting to see that the iDont is truly a piece of crap and you payed $200 maybe even $300 for it. Shame. Droid kicks the iDont's butt in every aspect. Apps you say, well how many "APPS" if you want to call them that, I like the word Programs better, are actually useful? That Pizza Hut calling App really is useful huh iDont fans? You can't call Pizza Hut from the phone normally? You need an app to do that? Puhlease, Droid will destroy iDont in every way possible. Thanks Motorola for making such a truly high end device, not one that's just hyped because "I got alot of useless apps".
this is the best
best display , size and quality is best
