Great Smart phone.. No,It's actually a mini-laptop.thanks Motorola.
Joe, 05 May 2010Ok I had a milestone with me. And I been using it since February 2010. Seriously the phone is ... moreI have also been using Milestone since Feb, let me share my experience...
Battery life -
Agree battery life may not be the best among any phone. Once my wife played the game constantly for 4 hours and it almost went dead.
But then what can you expect from a phone with a 3.7" screen? Battery life for a week? Any other phone out there that you know with 3.7" screen or above with better battery life than Milestone?
My solution is simple: I've an extra battery and the battery charger...for about US$70 together. And yes, sometimes I charge it twice a day...leaving it on the dock at office and then use it after work, then charge again overnite.
Haven't encountered any. The most I have is when I install some new apps, when I open the apps the "Force Close" message might appear. Then all I need to do is to uninstall the apps and everything else would work fine afterwards. God knows what's in those apps anyway.
Symbian? My previous Symbian phone was Moto Z8. It automatically shut down by itself and I couldn't even make it work as a PHONE. Never happened on my Milestone so far.
Not sure if you got a faulty unit. I myself have never encoutnered such problem. So are other Milestone users where I live. None reported such problem in the forum where I live.
The ear plug connect is also easily faulty.-
Are you referring to the ear plug that goes to your ear or the 3.5mm jack into the phone? i've been using Moto's 3.5mm plug since E2, E6. EM35, Zn5, etc...and never had such problem. For the "ear plug" agree the unit that came with the phone can't hang on to the ears as well as the older version which came with E2/E6. So I spent US$12 and get the model that came with E6 and it works fine.
The design of the keypad with the button by the side (which the designers had so persistently kept) is a total flop. -
Which "button" are you referring to? The cursor? Or else, where would you like to put it?
yes, I do agree the keypad could be better, though at 13.7mm thin, which beats everybody else with a qwerty keypad, what else can you expect?
Backflip will be available with Android 2.1 where I live around July and I'll get one as well.
And did you mention about the voice quality? Did you ever compare the voice quality on Motorola phones vs. any other brand?
HTC might be a good alternative. But where I live HTC has been known to blame on customers on many faulty areas, such as won't replace phone with less than 3~5 burnt LCD...
Hey Joe...........did you update to ver 2.1.....if not update and see the difference........thanks for your review......i need to now because i'm thinking of buying this phone.........
Joe, 05 May 2010Ok I had a milestone with me. And I been using it since February 2010. Seriously the phone is ... moreBrother u seem to be frustated !! i,m also usibg this phone since march is a issue...but it all depend on ur usage. i have car charger i plug it when in car. for battery problem u have to close internet connectivity or wifi or synchronisation software which r running hidden, otherwise i have no bug issue at all.
Ok I had a milestone with me. And I been using it since February 2010. Seriously the phone is a little disappointing in many ways and yet it is great in others. I'll put what I like about the phone and what i don't.
- Big Screen with 16M Colors, BIG difference.
- Works almost like a mini laptop
- Surfing and browsing is a great experience with this. Almost like surfing on your PC, its just the next closest thing.
- Android, Lotsa Freebies. The os and phone is very customisable.
- Touch screen with QWERTY keypad.
- Touch Screen is VERY VERY sensitive which I love it.
- Basically I'm a business user. Everything I need and wish to do out of a phone it has it.
Ok Now weakness of the phone.
- BATTERY It barely last half a day. And you'll be grabbing any charging point frantically the entire day. I bought this innocell extended battery doesn't work well. I tried using emergency charger it damage the life of the battery rapidly. The processor heats up very fast.
- BUGS oh boy I thought Nokia's Symbian is buggy. This is worst. Then again android is new and its opensource, understandable.
- Charging I have alot of problems with the charging connector and the charger. For some days now I need to really be sure I am charging the phone before I goes to sleep or I'll ended up with a drain phone.
- The ear plug connect is also easily faulty. I usually takes a jog with the phone as my mp3 player. The connectors of the phone seems to be too delicate. Easily damaged after a while.
- The design of the keypad with the button by the side (which the designers had so persistently kept) is a total flop. Its not very useful or rather I prefer not to use it. Also it affects the ergonomic when typing with your thumbs.
Finally in Conclusion what would I think of the phone. Its great but unfortunately I am looking for something more solid. Like a blackberry or HTC. Android OS is great and I'll probably be looking out for a HTC with an android. This phone unfortunately is alittle too disappointing and too fragile. And its not worth the frustration for the 16M color screen. BUGGY, poor battery efficiency AND delicate parts cannot be compensate with its strength.
JC, 05 May 2010can anyone tell me if i can use this phone for t mobile or is it only for verizon?Unfortunately not. Verizon use CDMA and T-Mobile use GSM, they operate at different frequencies and therefore they even use different hardware setup and different network protocols. This is why a lot Verizon customers are unable to use mobile handsets abroad (unless its dual band), as the rest of the world generally use GSM.
JC, 05 May 2010can anyone tell me if i can use this phone for t mobile or is it only for verizon? It can't be used with Verizon

JC, 05 May 2010can anyone tell me if i can use this phone for t mobile or is it only for verizon? You might want to check out Android forums such as droidforums.net or androidforums.com. They generally have more information listed and should be able to answer questions about t-mobile and verizon service.
I believe though that the Milestone will not work on t-mobiles 3G network.
can anyone tell me if i can use this phone for t mobile or is it only for verizon?
confused, 04 May 2010I just purchased the milestone but the sd card is not recognized by tbe phone. I tried to form... moreNo problem on my side, or any similar case reported on forums where I live regarding Milestone. Suggest you take the phone back for service.

Jayanta, 04 May 2010Finally I got my Milestone. Everything is good about this phone except one thing - During Call... moreyes this is true. ive had the phone for a bit over a month now and it gets hot when on a call or surfing the net or recording video. that is the only disappointment for me with this phone. other then that i love it. lol
will this phone work on wind mobile?
(It sucks when companies make phones for only one type of service provider. they should make phones that will work on any current and up coming network. only way to get more people to buy their phone and make more cash.)
I just purchased the milestone but the sd card is not recognized by tbe phone. I tried to format it, but it won't. I inserted the sd into another phone and that phone recognizes it. I tried inserting another sd into the milestone, same thing, I cannot use it. I don't know what to do. I cannot use the camera without the sd. Help.
Finally I got my Milestone. Everything is good about this phone except one thing - During Call (just after 1/2 mins) the ear piece area is getting heated so much that it become unbearable. - This is the phone which not be used as phone.
Saurabh, 04 May 2010I also felt this problem of voice cutting, and I have searched for voice privacy but did not f... more"voice privacy" - sorry, about that posting. The "voice privacy" is found on the Verizon "Droid" and not the Milestone. But I believe you can change the "codec" to get better voice quality. Here is the link to the Motorla forum: https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/17480 --- To get to the programming menu follow this link: http://cellphoneforums.net/motorola-droid/t305074-droid-programming-menu.html -- The instructions to get to the programming menu for "Milestone" could be different.
