Dear Experts,

Please advise, I am currently using Galaxy Grand (for 1 year now)(Mumbai, India)
Not able to decide on next upgrade.

My needs are
1. Dual SIM (with option of switching 3G data on both networks alternately)
2. Durable (should be usable for 2 years)
3. Steady operations(Samsung handset hangs up at-least 3-4 times in a week)
4. Need Screen, RAM, speed & other specifications better than Galaxy Grand.

Following are the problems I am facing; which is prompting for upgrade
1. In Galaxy Grand; applications can not be moved to SD Card.
2. 8 GB internal memory gets occupied by just 8-10 applications, thus need to delete applications to occupy new applications

I was considering Grand 2, but again internal memory is only 8 GB.

Feedback from someone who as used Galaxy Grand & now switched to MotoG will help a lot.

Please suggest if you consider any other device which may fit the requirements.

Thanks for the reply..

moushumi, 10 Mar 2014Moto g vs lg g2 mini, who will winMoto G vs LG 2 Mini It is not surprising to see both these devices compared since both are nearly the same in all the departments. But where Moto G scores a huge win is the display, which has spoilt us and from now on nothing less should be expected in this segment. The Moto G also has water repellant nano coating both outside and inside, which earns it some more brownie points. That said, we have yet to see the kind of price tag LG puts on the device and unless there is a drastic difference in price, we will put our money on the Moto G.

LG got a 8 MP camera vs 5 MP from Moto G, Moto G have 16 and 8 GB version without external memory but LG 2 mini 8 GB version only but external memory up to 32GB still the Moto G can get a OTG to make it extendable. I will choose the Moto G

HTC One X has high internal memory Sense 4 UI with lot of customizations and better looks than any other UI or even better than Sense 5 UI. So I think it is better to buy HTC one X available online for about INR 16,000 for 32 GB version. It also supports almost all the apps and games than Moto G.

People who are getting camera error.
1.Download Camera 360 from Play store
2.Open the app and wait till the camera can be accessed(if it doesn't, tap on the switch camera option once or twice in camera 360).
3.Close it and open Motorola camera.
It should work as i had experienced the same problem and this helped. :)
Camera error which you get is not due to hardware but problem with the Motorola camera application.

And i don't know if this works with Kitkat. Mine's still in jelly bean.

                                    UPDATE:
For people who's moto g's led notification is not working.
download "LIGHT FLOW LITE" or "LIGHT FLOW(Paid Version)" app from play store. :)

                                      Nokia X vs Moto G

Design: Both the phones have polycarbonate bodies. While the Motorola Moto G features swappable back covers, the Nokia X flaunts vibrant colors which, like on the Lumia and Asha range, look good. The Moto G is curvy at the corners, while the Nokia X less so. The Nokia X is also lighter at 128 grams as compared to Moto G’s 143 grams.

Moto G waiter resistant vs Nokia X nothing

Display: The Nokia X uses a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display while the Motorola Moto G features a 4.5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) screen. Given the better resolution, the Moto G (326ppi) has a much better pixel density than the Nokia X (233ppi).

Hardware: The Nokia X is powered by a dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 SoC and 512MB of RAM, while the Motorola Moto G leaps ahead with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 SoC with 1GB of RAM. While it clearly has more processing chops, it lags behind the X as far as storage is concerned. In comparison to the 8GB/16GB memory on the Moto G, the Nokia X gets 4GB internally that can be expanded up to 32GB using  a microSD card.

Moto G can use OTA memory stick or OTA adaptor for external memory up to 32 GB.

Software: The prime difference between the two phones is their operating systems. The Moto G runs Android 4.4 KitKat and offers everything that an Android phone does and a bit more. The X, on the other hand, runs on the Nokia X OS, which is essentially a forked version of Android.

Unlike the Moto G, it may not have access to Google’s services and suite of apps like the Play Store, Gmail or Google Maps, but it does boast a selection of apps from Nokia and Microsoft to replace them. As for the app marketplace, the Nokia X gets its own Nokia store and with support for third party stores like Yandex, most of the regular Android apps can be downloaded too. Also, developers can bring in their Android apps to Nokia X by replacing Google API with Nokia’s.

In terms of the UI, the Moto G is the closest you can get to enjoying pure Android without owning a Nexus or a Google Play Edition device. The Nokia X, on the other hand, looks like a Windows Phone with Live Tiles on the homepage as well as FastLane for multi-tasking.

Camera: The Nokia X uses a 3-megapixel rear facing camera, which can record 480p videos at 30fps. The Moto G, on the other hand, features a 5-megapixel camera and 720p video (also at 30fps). The Moto G also boasts a 1.3-megapixel secondary camera at the front, something the Nokia X does not.

Battery: The Nokia X’s smaller battery (1,500mAh) loses to Motorola Moto G’s non-removable 2,070mAh unit, which can last the day on a single charge. But it remains to be seen how efficiently Nokia X uses its power, given that Nokia has had a good record in the past as far as efficient power usage is concerned.

Both devices support dual-SIM and are 3G-ready. The Motorola Moto G is one of the best phones in its price range, and certainly utilizes Android’s capabilities to the best. The Nokia X is a very different phone! Not only is it Nokia’s first foray into Android, its positioning close to the Asha range defines the phones role too. It might be down on specs, but it offers a lot that’s yet unheard of, from the Finnish manufacturer. The Moto G retails for close to Rs 12,500 for the 8GB version, the Nokia X does for Rs 8,599.
