Moto G4 Play has a *** user removable battery *** . Need I say more?
So, after putting my trust and money into iPhone 7, S7 Edge, Moto Plus 64gb I happy to f.i.n.a.l.l.y. have the phone that is just right for everyday use and doesn't make me look like a snob who is trying hard to be cool. Wow! Just picked it up for £79 on Vodafone Xmas sale and totally LOVING it. It performs well, even the camera is decent, battery life is superb and if by any shortage of luck I kill it there will be plenty of cash left to buy a new one. It isn't meant to impress but if like myself you are looking for a workhorse smartphone and not a vanity tool then this is the right one! By the way- it is basic BUT it doesn't look or feel cheap. Solid device. 10/10/10 value/performance/quality.
AnonD-620395, 13 Dec 2016Why would you need a feature intended for tablets, on a phone where there should only need to ... moreOne reason is security. Even though there may be only one user, that single user could have several roles. For e.g. you may use the phone for banking, social networking, gaming etc. Depending on the role the user account for that role can be configured to have different levels of security - which apps are enabled for the account and so on.
I'd like to know if the camera scratches easily, my boyfriend has motorola g4 plus and his camera does have that problem.
David, 21 Dec 2016I heard that this phone is not compatible or doesn't work full speed with Indian 4g networks, ... moreNo I am using this mobile and I am from India. Excellent Mobile no problem. Using jio from one month no problem. Internet speed is amazing and volte supported. Go for it.
tehsin, 18 Dec 2016Does anybody bought this as an unlocked and using on verizon in the US?I'm using it on Verizon in America. Nice phone, I like it.
I heard that this phone is not compatible or doesn't work full speed with Indian 4g networks, because some lte bands are missing in this phone for the indian model. So 4g network will be a mess with Indian 4g network like jio... if anyone knows more detail of what am saying please share
Excellent mobile. Not a single problem found. Just love with camera . Speed charging . No hangs or lags found. From my side it's 10 out of 10
I have been using the G4 play for 3 weeks now and I must say I'm happy overall with this phone for the price. I'm not into gaming on my smart phone so I can't comment on that. It says my average memory usage is 1.2gb of ram, battery is lasting me entire day with moderate usage. No noticeable lag between the app's I tend to use.
Only cons for me is camera not the best. Does alright outside and in good lighting. Not so great indoors or poor lighting. Flash seems to leave a very yellowish tinge on photos. Another con would be lack of led notification light, it just doesn't have one at all.
Micro SD card can be formatted to be used as probable media OR formatted so can be used as device storage for app's. I thought that was worth a mention as someone on here said they could use expandable storage for installing app's.. you Can just format correctly.
Speaker is front facing and plenty loud.
Overall good cheap phone. Tough to say it has any drawbacks if you can get it for a cheap price.

Navjot, 22 Nov 2016Will Moto g4 play get naugat 7.0version any soon? Or is it justfor G4 and G4 plus only? All submodels of G4 and G4 Plus will get Android 7.0
As for G4 Play it's not confirmed yet, except one or two submodels.
I am about to buy a new phone from Amazon. I am choosing between a Motorola G4Play, this one costs $100 usd, 8MP camera, has 2gb RAM, 16gb ROM and it´s upgradeable to marshmallow Android (older).
Or rather go for a Motorola G4Plus with great specs! 16 MP camera, 4GB RAM, 64 GB ROM, upgradeable to Nougat Android (newer) for $270 usd.
Or even go for a Huawei Honor 8 which is similar to the Moto G4 Plus but with less ROM (has 32gb) and a lower resolution camera 12 MP for $300 usd.
I am very enthusiastic about the Moto G4 Plus considering the price and specs. However I don´t know whether or not Huawei is currently more reliable than Motorola, and it would be worth sacrificing the extra ROM and camera resolution for $30 extra.
Anonymous, 13 Dec 2016Moto G4 Play is curtailed version of Android. It doesn't allow you to add users. Why would you need a feature intended for tablets, on a phone where there should only need to be one primary user? Unless you intend to use it as a home-bound phone (which is something a basic phone or landline would be better for anyways), I don't see how this is even an issue. Then again, use-cases do vary - I just think it's rather nitpicking to judge something meant for one person solely because it doesn't support multiple users.
