Finally bought one as a backup phone. Currently, I am going to compare this phone to my Google Pixel 9 Pro. While it may seem like the comparison is unfair (a lower mid-range vs flagship) it actually is fair.

So, first off, from my combative impressions:

Moto: You should buy this phone if you want a PHONE phone, want extreme assortment phone frequencies, expect great cellular range, want crystal clear conversations on the phone, want a top of the line display like ones found on modern flagships. The size is big though (too big for me) and it sticks out of the jeans pocket too far, is too long such that I am concerned it would get damaged if I sit down too fast (1" too long and 1/2" too wide for a comfy phone. This phone has extremely clear Dolby sound. Comes with Android innards (settings) looking like what can be found in Pixel. Sound is x4 times better than muffled Pixel's. Display is extremely bright and sharp and is on par with Pixel 9 Pro's display. Any problem with display displaying comes from weak (but decent) snapdragon 6v3 video card (and CPU). Expect, after reboot and unlock, widgets like search bar to take 3 or 4 seconds (after that it's fine. Expect web pages to not load instantaneously but to take a few seconds (vs flagship phone), but, once loaded you can scroll extremely fast (8GB is plenty unless you do serious AI.)

Don't buy Moto for a camera. If you expect to zoom in on pictures, you might be disappointed. The zoomed in quality is bad being very pixelated (read reviews thou). If you only need it to take an occasional pic to mildly document like hitting a deer then it would be sufficient. Don't buy this phone if you are rich and spoiled. Hehe.

Now, an important to me aspect is cellular performance. Gone are the days when news guys thoroughly tested this type of performance. Anyway, Moto's SD modem beats Tensor 4 hands down! Now this is semi-scientific, but, here is my experience. SD is tuned to stay on band 71 (when in poor reception area), while Tensor switches between 12 and 71. I am talking Google Fi on T-Mobile here, so we are clear. Tensor constantly falls back to band 12. SD grips band 71 with a death clutch (is good.) Band 12 is 700MHz. Band 71 is the new 600MHz. Lower frequencies penetrate buildings better and shoot further (but offer lower throughput). Tensor programmers don't understand that if the signal is weak to begin with then you must favor lower frequency band.. big fail. But, beyond all this musings, Motorolla 3925 5G Stylus has stronger cellular connection or signal strength--by my estimation at least by 5dBm better than Pixel 9 Pro in the same location, using the same service. Talking RSRP here observed in a program LTE Discovery, an app which I highly recommend. 5 dBm might not seem much unless you know that it is logarithmic, which makes it a good gain--it can mean a difference between poor signal and good signal, between talking to someone on a phone and being disconnected. Sigh, but I knew that Snapdragon's modem would beat Tensor, and was why I was so impressed with on paper specs of the Moto's phone (vs its price.)

OH YEAH! I highly recommend this phone for those who are on a serious budget, but please do read about the caveats--this phone is not for power users (fast everything), and not for those who want to take great pictures. I think this Moto phone is the best bang for the buck in 2025 for many people. If only they would still make 5.9" phones. Who says beggars can't be choosers?

I'm seriously thinking of getting this one as my future phone seeing as how Samsung isn't interested in my money anymore. I was eyeballing the A36 since they finally got rid of Exynos and worse yet, that Mediatek trash, but also degraded elsewhere. Missing headphone jack? No thanks, I have a top end headset with bluetooth AND a 3.5mm jack, which has come in clutch when the battery dies and eventually kicks the bucket. The 2025 Stylus 5G also supports max specs Hi-Res audio while the A36 is ??? Personally, Samsung killed any notion of spending on them with no expandable storage. My FLAC collection alone is like 50+ GBs and doesn't included my older non-FLAC albums. Where is the storage space for other things like including pics, vids, and app data? Where tf do they get off removing expandable storage and 3.5mm jacks, which was the big thing about the A series lineup?

Anyway this phone will be an upgrade in every possible way from my A13 5G. Going back to a SD chipset will be really nice too if I go for this once. I lived with only have 2 major OS upgrades anyway so this is no different. I have access to a 2023 Stylus 5G and overall have enjoyed it so far so I can't see why the newer better model would be worse.

Other than that, there is some merit to what you are saying, however, Motos are always on sale. 2025 Stylus is $119 at Google Fi, currently, for example. Price is of no issue for lower tier Moto phone like that. I don't see a point of yearly Android version updates for the most part, but the bug patches updates can be very important with all the hackers out there.

MakeMotoBetterAgain, 07 May 2025edge 2024 or g stylus 2025? Better CPU/GPU (snapdragon vs mediatek), all the cellular frequencies you may ever need anywhere, brighter display, great charging options, and an extra year or so of updates. Pretty much sums it up why you should go with the 2025 model. I am sure there are more smaller differences if you compare specs.

VT, 17 May 2025Is the panel screen (Amoled) the same with G stylus 5g (2024) and made by Samsung (or LG) ?It is a 3000 nit brightness display. I am sure it is a Samsung display. Twice the brightness of last year, at least on paper. That tells you that it is the same improved display OR A BETTER ONE. They couldn't have used a display like that while using some off brand manufacturer. 3000 nits brightness = Samsung.

$119 on Google Fi for new or existing customers--all you have to do is to stay on this phone for 120 days with Google Fi to qualify. Moto gets discounted as soon as they come out. $35 at Cricket with service subscription. Almost all the features of a flag ship phone for $900 less. I have been waiting for this type of phone for a very long time. Best bang for the buck. If only they still made small phones at under 6" and with these type of specs.

If you compare G stylus 2025 & edge 60 stylus then its for you ..
I am giving a review of the Motorola Edge-60 Stylus after using it for a week. The build quality is very good and it feels compact in the hand. Due to the flat skin, there is less chance of the display breaking in minor accidents. A physical SIM with an eSIM and an extra memory card is a great combination. Battery backup 10/10 Display 8/10. Sound quality Dolby Atoms and 3.5 jack. This is my first time stylus. I will slowly get used to the functionality of the stylus pen. The rear camera is very good, the front camera would have been better if it was a little better. There is no hit issue at least. I think the style of all Motorola cameras on the back is ugly. All in all, a good phone. I can easily use it for three to four years.
