Once again the vocal minority will scream the loudest, and will once again be wrong about their claims. All the different manufactures are putting out huge "phablets" for a reason, people want them. You, personally, may not want one, but the masses in the market do, and they will always appeal to the masses.
Steve Jobs, bright day in the universe when that jerk kicked it, arrogantly tried to tell customers what they wanted, instead of actually giving them want they want. There are still the blind sheep that will buy anything with an Apple logo on it, but their market share has taken a dump because they refused to change with the desires of the market.
Now, with the iPhone 6 and 6+, their sales are skyrocketing again because they are giving people what other companies gave their customers 2+ years ago. Bigger phones and more features.
This is purely my own speculation, but Google and Motorola didn't want to end up with two phones directly competing with each other. Which is what happened with the Nexus 5 and the LG G2. The G2 still had the unique buttons on the back, but in terms of platform, size and features, the two phones were too much a like. The only thing the Nexus 5 had going for it was its marketing as the "cheaper" alternative.
If people want a phone with a very clean Android experience, but a smaller screen size, they can go with the Moto X 2014. For people who want the same experience, but with a larger screen, they can go with the Nexus 6.
It creates a win-win for both Motorola and Google. If the Nexus 6 had a 5.5", or smaller, screen size the two phones would be eating into each other's sales. But now people can have two phones, with identical features, with the selling point being the screen size.
The renders show that the Nexus 6 will be smaller in size than the iPhone 6+ and very slightly bigger than the Note 4. The reason it would be 5.9 inches is because they need the extra 0.4 inches for the on-screen buttons. This will make the bezels smaller, so I don't think it would be a massive phone, if you find a Note comfortable, I'm pretty sure you'll find the Nexus 6 comfortable as well.
The Good Guy, 09 Oct 2014Are you guys sure it will have wireless charging? yes
dude, 09 Oct 2014Wrong, it will be the best selling Nexus.Don't think so dear friend , because it's screen size is too big for a phone ... the CPU is not much efficient because the chipset isn't good enough because a new GPU is going to be shown in a few month and finally Motorola isn't that good because it don't give it's phones to all the countries ...
dude, 09 Oct 2014Wrong, it will be the best selling Nexus. You are so right. And BtW a guy at Wall Street journal wrote it might have 2 different versions that have different sizes. Just like the new iPhone
hydarnes, 09 Oct 2014Dude, do you ever read the news, details of cpu.z say that it's 5 to 5.5 inchesI really hope your right 5.9 inches stupid and love my Nexus smartfones.
I m strongly getting intuition...next nexus I mean nexus 6 is similar to Motorola droid turbo
Sick Cycle, 09 Oct 2014Can't wait for both Nexus X/6 and Nexus 9I can't either It's GONNA BE LEGENDARY. BTW I think it's 5.24 inches for 3 reasons: 1- It would be extremely big and Google wouldn't make such a bad decision, but I personally like big phones.Even if Google did make this 5.9" phone it would come in 2 versions like iphone 6. 2- The CPU-Z Test, it looks like it's 5.24 inches not 5.9. 3-FFC, Because it says that the motorola 5.9 inch phone has AT&T and Verizon support but I think google always sticks with Global GSM
5.9 inch screen? I hope nobody buys it. I hope it is the biggest flop on any Google/Motorola phone ever. Then they put it out in a 5-5.2 inch screen and score a win.
Why not AMOLED display? Motorola are always for AMOLEDs! 5.9" near-bezel-less display is going to be awesome! Remember people complaining about Note series? 6" phones would become a norm soon enough. Looking forward for this release. I'm considering shifting to android after using iPhones for 5 years. Android L looks amazing!
5" is more than enough, even better if you keep it below 5" like the previous nexus, other than that it's going to be a problem to carry that huge thing around. It won't fit anyone's pocket...
