The reason Motorola have capped the songs at 100 is because Apple were worried about the E1 becoming an actual challenger to the iPod Crown. As if Apple would agree to a phone capable of carrying a 2GB memory card, that could challenge the new iPod Nano.
Apparently the software on the phone only allows up to 100 songs. That's pathetic. Even if you replace the memory card the software won't allow you to play the songs.
Shame on Motorola and Apple for producing such a underwhelming product.
I got this phone from Carphone Warehouse in the UK the day it was released. It has since been returned and exchanged for a K750i and here's why:
The headphone socket is 2.5mm and not 3.5mm so standard iPod headphones don't work with it.
The headphone socket is recessed so an adaptor fails to fit properly.
The UI is unbelievably slow to respond, especically when using iTunes.
The phone is limited to 100 songs NOT the 512mb memory, in other words if you get to 100 songs but have only used 300 mb, tough, you're not allowed any more.
The camera is terrible quality (0.3 megapixels)
You can't set an MP3 (or an AAC for that matter) as a ringtone - WHY NOT?
The USB connection is V1.1 not V2 so song transfers are very SLOW.
I have both a 3rd Gen iPod and an iPod shuffle but thought this phone would still be useful to have - I was wrong!!
The phone actually supports MP3, AAC, MIDI and few other formats. And in iTunes you can select if you want to decode in MP3 or AAC when you rip your CD. You can also copy any MP3 or AAC songs to iTunes library on your PC or Mac and transfer on the phone. Of course iTunes songs sold by Apple are only in AAC.
The phone tht sucks...... With BT but unable to trf music files, memory so low, VGA camera... emmmm.... never expected such a low end hp.... similar to Razor V3...might as well buy a Moto E398
well we just got the rokr's in today at o2. itsd true theyre not as good as w800's but theyre a lot cheaper and i think theyll sell well. the sound quality is good,BUT, of course, its a motorola
it sux!!! it does only support acc files... haha.... peace out... i'm outie...
it's elusive in the uk as carphone have this handset as an exclusive all other stock is 'grey' stock usually meant for other parts of the EU. personally i think its a cheap and naff fone the k750i is way better at 250 quid sim free its spot on
I am wondering does this phone has a North America version which is 850/1800/1900? Can anyone tell me about that plz ^__^"
In my backward country (Poland) infrate its most popular!!! But i using Bluetooth ;p
I think it's a cool phone ! Cheaper than the W800i. Just got mine free from www.theorder.co.uk as it was the only UK site that i could find it on. Why is it so elusive ?
this phone is around $239.99 in US with 2 year contract and around $279.99 for 1 year contract. and without contract,, mm around $432 i think. this is with cingular.
Motorola doesn't care about E398 owners. We paid $598 when the phone came out. Now Motorola is making the phone again with same design, lower price and more features. Maybe if the shop let us exchange our old E398 for the Rokr E1, then I will be satisfied. Anyway the memory of the phone and the camera is not very good. Only VGA. But still got flash. Hope this phone is not as slow as E398.
Really cool... Like iPOD, Motorola ROKR E1 can change the skins like iPOD For today technology, we don't really need "infra red", the important is "bluetooth" and the "MOTOROLA HT-820 STEREO BLUETOOTH HEADSET". We don't need a very big memory because I think you don't hear all the music for 24 hours / for 24 hours x 30 days. Shame on you.
i have just found out that this phone has that crappy loose e398/v620 charger input. this is a major set back for this phone (appart from the price possibly, which i have not found out how much it is in oz yet). i was hoping that they had converted this phone into using the V3 charger input. so unless it is a cheap phone i WILL NOT be ordering this one in.
infra red?? what for?
it has have bluetooth, infra is much slower, more complicated. infra is the past, who needs it anymore?
i really dont understand y motorola wouls talke an ugly phone and just add the i-tune compatible feature to it.
they could have improved on the camera atleast to keep it a little more up to date
m8 i could be wrong. i admit that but this phone still hasn't been released in australia yet (if it has then my motorola rep is going to cop it)and the price for a K750i is $740 here in oz, so if motorola is smart they will keep the price down as if they are around the same price then yes, i would take a K750i instead. i was just running off the theory that the price would be around the same price that the E398 is going for (which is currently $249). so i do apologize if i got some wrong info but if it was half the price than it would sell well in my area. thanks for the info. :)
I would rather buy O2xphone IIM then this
1) i heard max 50 songs with a small memo
2) everything is same as IIM only IIM is smartphone & it cheaper then this
3) color same as IIM
But one goodthing about this phone it has a photolight... which i think it is good for night... other then that nothing really special abt this phone still having VGA cam...
