10GB of music, plus a phone with Crystal Talk, where the other party can hear what you say (isn't what a phone should be?), all for around USD$320 in HK...no contract.

That's what I call helping each other. Just look at Samsung i8510 INNOV8 site reviews, that's not reviews, that's like paintball minus the colors - shooting at each other point blank over who can win that argument. I'm lucky to stick with Motorola. Phew, it's entertaining though.

Actually I'm not qualify to answer your question bcoz I'm not an E8 user yet. I'm using V8 at the moment, even though both E8 & V8 are using the same OS - Linux. I love Linux OS, much better than the previous Motorola I've used running on Synergy OS. Based on V8, yes you could SMS while playing music but for E8, I'm not sure..... maybe someone using E8 here could help.
On whether it's a good choice or not, I truly believe it is good. If you are a music lover, 2GB built in memory, 4GB MicroSD external = 6GB, that's a lot. To me, Sound quality is really good when I tested it at a phone shop. Crystal Talk technology's really good, providing crystal clear voice quality that others do not have.
Anonymous, 02 Sep 2008the 'squeak' is the haptic feedback. you should be able to change it in the settings.how would i change that in my settings, i check in all of them and i can't find..
Tony T, 02 Sep 2008Does anyone's E8 squeek whenever you press any buttons, mine does...the 'squeak' is the haptic feedback. you should be able to change it in the settings.
got it a week ago..superb phone..apart from various other features the voice quality is superb thanks to crystal Talk..i havent experienced such a clearity before in any handsets that i used..Its also a eyecatcher..looks really cool..n the keypad is magical..camera for 2 megapixel is preaty good,,better then the N81 and E51 (Both have 2 Megapixel Camera) i was using before. As its a music phone the sound qualiy must be good and believe me it is great.the only problem is that the ear phones supplied is not of good quality..but u can always purchase the headphones of your choice thanks to the 3.5 mm headphone jack..so guys grab one and experience it urself.Bye.
i just think mobile phones nowadays r pretty much similar in terms of function. it just boils down to what u really need i have had use all the other brands before this phone and have to say when it comes to style and looks motorola is the thing. n this phone with with its linux based interface is more user friendly than its past predecessor. the only complaint i hv is the non existence of themes whatsoever since i am tired of the only sole theme on the phone n crystaltalk is really wonderful hv to experience it yourself

I would recommend the Nokia 6300.
Reason being i had mine for 2years and I was more than happy with it.
Made of metal and has voice clarity software on it also.
Anonymous, 01 Sep 2008And did u compare the voice quality of V8 vs. K750? My friend "was" using the latter and I co... moreTo be fair, your friend's K750i might be having some problems causing maybe reception or transmission flaws. I bought the SE K750i brand new about 16 mths ago & another brand new K550i about 13 mths ago.
(Based on my personal opinion)
For comparison, voice quality using phone (phone to ear):
1. V8 vs. K750i (listening to incoming voice)
V8's more composed, bass, treble & midrange are better. More ear-friendly and soothing.
K750i is also clear but I found the treble much higher. I was actually holding both phones (left & right) called an automated answering service (telebank) to test at the same time. Listening from both phones, the K750i's treble makes listening not as comfortable as V8 - definitely. But bear in mind, the K750i has built in equalizer, I've set the equalizer to our taste for music listening thru speaker. So that might've affected the outcome. I've also set my Spatial & Bass on my V8 to my listening taste.
V8 vs. K750i (calling out to someone, on receiver's listening voice quality )
V8's CrystalTalk cuts down background noise and increases speaker's volume enabling the other party to hear you. I like this one.
K750i - still can hear background, in fact annoying at times especially when speaker in noisy place. Test was carried out when I called my wife & she's at a noisy place. For V8 test was when I was at a noisy place talking with my bluetooth. She complained that it's really noisy, I disconnected my bluetooth and the background noise was suppressed to a minimum - I was surprised too from her feedback. That's why I like the CrystalTalk technology of Motorola.
Hope this helps
