To the person having problems with the backlights. Mine has this problem too, although i dont think it is a fault. From what ive heard, the keypad has some sort of light sensor in it that detects if you are in the light, so the keypad doesnt come on, or in the dark when the keypad lights come on. If you can see a dot on the outer edges on the phone next to the no 6 button, in daylight, put your finger over it then try the keypad and see if it lights up the keypad as i think this little dot contains the light sensor. I think this is some sort of energy saving measure.

Got my Motorola SLVR Red today, and is exactly the same as the L7 SLVR, so i am pleased. Phone looks pretty good, very nice design, the features seem good. I am mostly happy with my purchase. However, i was very disappointed to see that motorola do not include a handsfree stereo kit considering this phone has a fully functioning MP3 player on it. Theres no cd-rom software or usb lead, which i can sort of sympaphise with (good job i dont need either-i have a card reader) as not all companies include this, but not to supply a set of headphones with an mp3 phone is crazy. I dont know if this is the same issue with the normal L7 SLVR, but if it isnt, now we know how motorola can make the £10 contribution to the AIDS charity it supports-by not giving us the full accessories!!

The backlights of the keys of my SLVR L7 have a mind of their own. They either won't be on from the start or will just shut off literally leaving me in the dark. Phone No 1 had this problem, so has the replacement phone. No info in the booklets. Help please

it supports 1GB although 512 is advertised; microSD only, it's great because it's the smallest card and not expensive from what I gather
can anyone tell me how do I disable showing contacts from SIM in the phonebook?
i've this fone for 1 day and played with it to some extent; it's cool, get it, especially for motorola fans

Could someone help me clarify something? I'm planning to buy this phone. I just want to know if it uses a specific type/brand of MMC or could it read any MMCs? And what is the maximum external memory that it can handle, 512 MB or 1 G? tnx

Hi could someone please just explain something for me? I got the SLVR a few weeks ago and see on this review that it says you can put up to a 1gb SD card in it, however, on the motorola site it says that it has 512MB expandable memory. What one is right? If i put in a 1GB micoSD and it actually has 512MB will it not work? I don't understand why this would happen anyway as i thought it would read the card and what's on it regardless of how big it was. It'd be a real help if someone cleared this up as i'm looking for SD cards at the mo

sharon. maybe your memory card was corrupted, because you take it out while the phone is on. same thing when you took out psp's/ or any digital camera memostick/card. it sometimes gets corrupted. means it now has bad sectors that cannot be formatted.

hey sharon they are taking u for a ride , the memory card can be easily formatted . dont fall for it they just want u to buy a new memory card

plz go to some other store , formatting a memory card is no big deal they should do it for free , also u can try doing that yourself ( there is a option for that in phones only , i know about sony ericsson menu but not motorola )

i have a slvr L7 too however i got the micro SD unformatted. I remember removing the Micro SD before with my phone ON and that's why i'm thinking the reason why it got unformatted. I had it repaired however they said that i need to replace it with a new one since it can no longer be reformatted. do i really need to buy one? how come it can't be reformatted at all? thanks

It's a 100% Cool Cell Phone. I Got it on ma B'Day as a gift from ma DAD. This Cell Phone really rocks, has a good Sound System, Easy-to-use MP3 Player, Has 128 MB Memory card while all the nokia phones have only (64MB), Camera result is good, Zoom is also 4x, And Body and Shape is excellent and mind blowing. I really love this Phone, it's an exellent Phone in a low budget. I Would advise everyone to buy this cool Cell Phone.

                                Ok. This is my review.

                                (Phone isn't branded, iTunes free)

I'm really in between with this phone. I like it and some things bug me. Before this I had an SE S710.

                                Good:
Easy to make anything your ringtone.
Good quality for a VGA camera (compared my z500 vga)
Very easy to use mp3 player.
Good reception. In my room with SE I barely got 1 bar with this phone I get 1-3 easily.
Memory card is always a plus.
                                Looks really good.
I really like all the ringtone/vibrate customization with this phone too.
                                Bad:
Picture ID pictures have to be in phone memory which is only a few megabytes, same goes for ringtones. This is kind of annoying me already. (There might be a way to get ringtones from your microSD to play, I don't know, I don't have iTunes).

The video capture quality isn't that great either.

Motorola's phonebook I really don't like. It shows mobile, work, home numbers all seperately. Really a big nuisance.

I have a Moto HS850 headset and it sounded a lot better with my SE phone. With the bluetooth headset with this phone I get a lot of 'noise' (the swooshing shshshhshs noise) along with the speaking.

Speakerphone could be a bit louder on calls, MP3 is fine.

                                Conclusion:
I would love this phone if it had more internal memory, a better menu/phonebook system, a better camera. But the reception and call quality is good.

And yes...I did just see the L7e....haha.

                                    USE YOUR ITUNES AS RINGTONES

                                    1. Create a ringtone specific playlist, and drag the songs you want to the list.

                                    2. Go to the playlist, highlight a song, and navigate to "Get Info"

                                    3. Click "Options" adjust start and stop times.

                                    4. Go to iTunes Preferences > Advanced > Importing
                                    Settings- Import Using: mp3 encoder
Setting: Custom (32kbps mono, 22.050 khz, mono, optimized)

                                    5. Playlist > select all > right click convert selection to mp3.

                                    6. go to library and look for the song or songs that were converted to mp3, make sure that are converted down to about 15-20 seconds. Highlight the songs you intend to send to your phone. Right click mouse, and copy.

7.connect your phone via usb to your computer, go to MY Computer and open your slvr phone, from there click on Mobile, then you want to just high light ringtones folder, then you Right click mouse and Paste.
The ringtones you made should download, the phone takes awhile to download, make sure you give it some time. when done disconnect phone from computer.

                                    8. (on your phone) go to My Stuff/sounds/switch storage device to card-sliver. your new ringtones should be there, go ahead and move each one to phone memory. once you have done that you are set. you can now go into your phone memory when in Sounds and apply your ringtones.

Do not get SLVR L7. Recpetion is really really. bad if you are not going to buy from phone service provider. You'll have to try 10 times to make one call.
