someone was helpful when i asked about the charging question and this is what they said:
its normal. if your profile had have stayed on either 'vibrate and ring' or 'vibrate', it would damage your charger. if you change your profile to either 'soft' or 'silent', you will notice that it doesn't switch to 'loud'.
every time i charge my phone, the ring style switches to "loud". how do i switch this off? i couldnt find it in the settings and its not in the manual as well.
one more things.....my phone cant play any mp3 songs....do i need to install any software in it?????

This phone sucks. I have had 3 Nokia's over the past five years and they all worked flawlessly. I bought this phone in October and in December the screen cracked and it took Motorola a month to send a replacement. Then in March I sent it back due to a creak from the hing. Now it's May and it won't power on. So that makes 3 replacements in 7 months. Steer clear from this piece of sh*t.
My girlfrinend has this phone and it is a piece of junk it is the second one that she has had. The first one kept dropping the calls and turning off and making a loud static noise. and the second one of that same kind did pretty much the same thing. I wouldnt recomend that anyone get this phone.
is there anyone who knows how to unlock the motorola V220 phone? coz' I typed the wrong SUBSIDY PASSWORD.... by the way what's the SUBSIDY PASSWORD in english?

!Do not get this phone! My third phone is in the mail via the exchange program from Cingular. The first time the main screen went blank. This time the ear piece stopped working. I have not dropped either phone. I also know of three other people who are on their second phone. BTW: if you have to get an exchange through Cingular, your warranty does not start over. After a year from reciept of your original phone you are out of warranty!
can anyone please send me a picture taken with this phone?
my address is firstname.lastname@example.org
I've had this phone for about 6 months now. It has worked great until a few weeks ago. I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden I can't send anything outgoing. I can't call people, or send text messages. When i dial a number and press send, the phone just goes back to the main screen. The weird thing is, I can recieve calls perfectly.
I'e had a problem just like yours. The only solution is to take your phone back to your dealer and ask them to reinstal the software. Unless you are able to do that yourself :)
I got a motorola V220. It worked just fine a couple of days after unlocking. But after that whenever i tried to go into the personalize option, the screen went black. The other options are working fine. Can any1 help?
Anyone looking for software to transfer data from PC to V220 or vice versa should check out Motorola Mobile Phone Tools, or just Mobile Phone tools. Not sure what the difference is but I have the program and it works wonders. Cheers!

Here is the driver and the software for Motorola V220: http://www.project2k5.com/motorola/
Anyone looking for the Transfer Tools software to connect to your PC should try eBay. You can buy the usb cable and software together for around £5-£8. I bought mine off eBay and have no problems at all with both Win98SE and WinXP.
