Did anyone know this phone can paly music you choose from your pc as a ring tone? well guess what boys and girls, it can and it does. Its all a matter of the size of the file you are trying to transfer to your phone through mobile explorer. this v690 can support any length music file that is reduced to 200 kilobytes or less which equals a maximum of 25 sec but effective, because you only need five sec of avarage ring tone time before picking up a call.
I am now "jammin" like bob marley and the wailers. lol

regarding to the person below, mms should be no problem to recieve. I believe i may be incorrect in a couple of ways. All i know is that, you may use text messages but you may not send multimedia messages with your V690 without the internet, and regarding to the internet, well thats why i have posted what i have posted below this one.

it doesn't work bro, you cant connect it, if your using it for ringtones, i suggest you download midi off the internet on your computer and use your mobile phone tools cable and disk to upload pictures, or anytypes of media.

does any body know how to connect to the web with the v690 I have cingular service and it does'nt work on my phone. what can I do have a connection?

hey what up fellas for those people having problems with their external display light working and think there phone needs repare, it is actualy just their settings on the v690.
Do not fear sudanese Sammir is hear to pull you out of this tight jam. simply go to menu ___> Settings > Back light and make sure that you do'nt have yours turned off!!!
note: if you hold down your volume key while the phone is closed, you can display your green backlight to see the time, date, battery level, etc.

i ve been using this phone for about 6 months now and can't complain. only that the backlight of external display is not working or i can't get it to work. i ve read about people having the same dilema with V690. does anyone know abou this?

I have a motorola v 690 well every thing is cool about it.
but it just stop work like that and i dont have it for a year yet

Are there any Cingular users that can help me? I've had this phone for 5 months and still cant send or receive MMS or pictures. I just need the settings to do so, but I couldnt figure it out. Email me if ya know what they are. Went to Cingular and they were of no help whatsoever. I bought this phone online after Cingular refused to honor the warranty on a piece of crap LG1200, and I wasnt going to buy a phone from them so they could extend my contract :(
Other than this, I have been pleased with the performance of this phone, and would recommend it to anyone.

I use to have this phone and so far it it the best phone ive had and trust me ive have many, the camera on the v690 is really good, and it comes out really clear

I just posted my comment on the v690, and continued to read some of the comments on here. I find some rather funny & ridiculous in a way. Some complaint about certain feautures not working, and thus came up with a conclusion saying that how bad/terrible the v690 was. Please, people, don't expect to pay for a Hyundai and get a Mercedes Benz. Don't buy a phone blindly, read the phone features carefully and know what you're getting. For this price, I am happy to get what I paid for. If you want something with a "better or more advance" features, pay more and buy other phones.

I just posted my opinion on this v690 and then read more of the comments here. I find it funny in a way that some of you were wondering how this or that work. Please, read the features that this v690 offers carefully. If you're talking about "more advance" feautures, PAY MORE and get something else. WHAT YOU PAY IS WHAT YOU WILL GET. You can't expect to pay the price of a Hyundai and get a Mercedes Benz. Cherrish what you have, and pay more to get a phone with more feautres if you have to.

I've used my v690 (brand new) for over a year now and I must say that it's a great phone (for that price). It's easy to use, sleek and I get a lot of compliments from my female co-workers ;) For those of you who complained about the service, it was most likely your mobile network service's fault; nothing to do with the phone itself.

this phone is pretty sleek and unique + stylish. i got this phone almost for a year now in red color and its not one of those phones where you should crave and get all excited about. There are a lot of problems with the phone. The camera is not the best. Videos suck. 30 recording time tops(takes up a lot of memory) and plus, it has a small little box for you to record videos how pathetic is that? this phone's flip squeaks like crap, its huge when you flip it open, but there are some bright sides to this phone. This phone does last a pretty long time when not in use without charging. The phone comes with a data cable which you can you use to apply ringtones, pictures, animations, etc. If you have this phone and you have the software installed and you would like to try out and get a free new ringtone or animation go to www.free-ringtones.eu.com from there you can click on the left bar free poly ringtones. Choose one download to pc and hthen when your using mobile phone tools dont forget before you put it into the phone in the media center you have to change it to midi and then melody. IF you wanted the animations, just on the main page on the right there are animations just save picture as and then put it into your phones animation or picture file(not photo album). This phone though does not allow the use of voice or real ringtones so thats another downside. This phone does not have interchangable faceplates either. Overall i would give this phone about a 7.5. Great expierence with this phone. Oh yeah one more thing....don't ever use this phone in the rain, thats when i busted up my 1 4 9 and # keys. Your welcome.....

i got this phone in hong kong, march 2004, and it was fine for a while, but after 6 months, sometimes when you close the phone, white screen of death, on can reboot, or remove battery, motorola HK said, "send it back, will try to fix, you pay all costs" wow, what a deal, so much for support, now it crashes 10+ times a day, and the speakers fail also, nice looking, but garbage phone

I've had this phone for about 2 months and I have almost got it down. If anyone has any questions regarding web, or picture mail on the cingular service feel free to contact me. The questions that I have are as follows: 1) How do i group my friend, so I can assign ringtones. 2) like most people on here how do I change the clock from 24hr to 12hr? Thank for the help guys!
