advantage: cheap phone for a motorolla handset / simple
disadvantage: no camera
The phone is OK but not great. Have had it for a month now. Nice FM Radio and battery life. But that's about it. VERY low memory, tiny screen, very few features. The browser freezes once in a while. But it's a nice cheap phone...I'm switching to Samsung E370 soon :-)
its a good fone but i wanna ask that is there any simple data cable for w220.............as it is for c261 and others........?????????
I managed to download Midi and Jpegs from the wap. But when i tried to click on an *.amr file, it didnt work.
How can i download .amr files?
This phone is rubbish if you like good phone features. No mp3 ringtones and those really bad sounding .amr sounds can't even be selected as ringtones. No infrared, no usb cable. And for some reason even though the phone comes with two .wav ringtones it does not accept .wav files to be downloaded. Its just weird. The good points are as follows:
Good text message memory.
Don't get this phone!
This fone is a load of rubbish Im sorry I bought it. I changed a siemens fone for this and I wish I could go back to it. Dont buy from Carfone warehouse they only let you exchange once. I am left with this rubbish now. I am a fast texter and carn't with this and the buttons are far to close together. It gets very dirty aswell, you have to keep wiping it when you have used it especially for girls that wear makeup.
its a wonderful cell. i m usig it from the past 1 month. i love it. the missing features are bluetooth and camera..........u should add in it.
I got this phone with free offer of Tata Indicom walky in Vivek showroom. I am using this phone for 2 months and till now everything is ok.
Total number of Missed /received calls looks like 40 or more which is more than advertised. they are clubbed together, the received calls are being marked with Right key in front of name/number. In case of missed calls/sms , the mobile keeps beeping every 3-4 minutes. Features I liked are Customization of keyboard short cuts, Great battery life, fantastic auto-scanning and manual FM radio , Great LCD display and sms storage space, customizable Alarm clock and contrast, 100% dustproof great keyboard , Slim design and sound clarity.
Please Note that the phone book just 600 phone numbers so if one uses 4 phone numbers per name entry then total phone book entry would be just 150. The User Interface is same as Motorola C168 model. This foldable model is very helful if one wants No gap between ear and mouth for more clarity.and also in workplaces where no camera phone is allowed.
how can i put files (jpeg, ringtones) on it? And can i put AMR on it? And listen to it?
Can anyone tell me, i've just bought this phone and when i receive messages they arn't storing in the inbox. The inbox is completely empty so i can't reread them. Once i've read them they are gone. Same goes for sending them, i can send them and although the "save sent messages" feature is on, it isn't showing them in the outbox. I'm very dissappointed as i think the phone is faulty. Can someone tell me whats happened??
i bought this phone only 2 days ago and now finding that whenever i call or vice versa, i hear some thing very cheap, a loud echo. and its really sad that its just third day for me with this phone. Overall the phone is very stylish with some very good features.
I sent an email to Moto helpline for AMR clarifications few days ago. I received the email now stated that AMR can be played BUT it CANNOT be used as RINGTONE on W220! How ironic!!! It plays yet it cannot be used as a ringtone. I hope they release a second software patch for this major flaw in software design.
Regarding Contacts storage:
The W220 mobile supports storage for multiple Information per contact provided you store the contact using Phone memory instead of Sim memory which only supports 1 number. Procedure of storing multiple information on a contact:
1. Store a new contact using the Phone memory.(with name & number) OR Copy current contact to Phone memory(Move Original).
2. Once created OR moved to Phone memory, view the contact under “Entry Details”.
3. Press “Option” and select “New”.
4. Select “Add Number” for additional new numbers for Mobile, Office, Fax, Home OR “Add Text” for information related like Note, Email id, Postal address & Web address.
5. Then Save the changes you created. That’s it, now you have stored multiple info for a single contact.
Note: The “first created” number in the contact will be the default when you dial the contact on your mobile regardless of multiple numbers stored per contact.

yes u r right .... AMR file format is comparitivly 10-15 times smaller than mp3 because of lower bitrate playing and frqency of music file.... also phone has approx. 634 kb memory... out of which approx. 120 kb is taken by the software .... the processing power of the phone is also too slow ... so it is difficult or impossible to play large bitrate files like mp3 in the phone media player ..... thats why.... they hav given a small memory in the phone .....it does not support pc connectivity ... u hav to transfer the file via GPRS.... thats the only solution......
