those facts are public knowledge and can be looked up in official financial webpages as well as Wikipedia.. i know.. just call Motorola and just ask.. or try to read the newspaper once in a while and stop making up stories of "record sale" numbers on this thread and think everybody is stupid..
really, last time i checked Motorola had their production line in Shenzhen, China.
Open your phones and check under the battery and you will probably feel disturbed.
Who says Motorolas innovation is sellng record handsets? that it rubbish talk.. just last month Motorola was going bankrupt and offered the company to Ericsson, Samsung and LG who all rejected it.
"Motorola's handset division recorded a loss of $1.2 billion in the fourth quarter of 2007, while the company as a whole earned $100 million during that quarter. It lost several key executives to rivals and its products have shown no sign of improvement, still remaining repetitive and uninnovative. Motorola laid off 3,500 workers in January 2008, followed by a further 4,000 job cuts in June and another 20% cut of its research division a few days later. In July 2008, a large number of executives left Motorola to work on Apple Inc.'s iPhone. Facing bankruptcy, the company has been put on offer for sale to several other major rivals such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and Sony Ericsson, yet all have rejected the offer. In July 2008, analyst Mark McKechnie from American Technology Research said that Motorola "would be lucky to fetch $500 million" for selling its handset business and analyst Richard Windsor said that Motorola might have to pay someone to take the division off the company and that the company may even exit the handset market altogether. Its global market share has been continuously on the decline; from 18.4% of the market in 2007, it had a share of just 9.7% by 2008"

boy do u people on this thread really need to look up the word "innovation" in the dictionary..
No wonder these people hasnt done a single review on last 30 motorola releases..
And isn't this the midrange Ericsson phone from last year? have they put the wrong picture or has Motorola just ripped of the design?
why is this phone $300? if this is the price of a motorola mid-end phone, how much are they gonna charge for a high end phone?!
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970More Motorola Innovation:
+ The first mobile phone with Crystal Talk.
+ The first mobile phone use Omega Wheel (similiar like in the iPOD but in the mobile phone).
+ The first mobile phone with Haptics technology (iPhone also want this technology).
Don't forget to type in the paper and slip to your ass so if you forget so you can read again. Hahaha...
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Yeah, certain car with so called i-drive is so complicated it takes MONTHS for one to learn how to drive it...and it never last as good as "mid-range" Japanese cars, espeically in tropical areas.
The best has to come from Europe? I thought other than cars, most so called "European products" are made in China nowadays!
If N and SE speak for quality, how come the paint on N76 comes off so easily? How come I can hardly hear what my friend's K8?0 / P1i say over my mom's "low end" Moto W510 with Crystal Talk?
Dan, 26 Aug 2008"icare about design, innovation and quality of the Motorola", and what design and innovation m... moreInnovation? Motorola was making mobile phones when others were making cassette walkmans and TV's...
Anonymous, 25 Aug 2008I don't care about Nokia. I don't care about Samsung. I don't care about Sony Ericsson. I don'... more"icare about design, innovation and quality of the Motorola", and what design and innovation might that be? the design and innovation made in Sony Ericsson S500 black released last may which makes this phone such a complete rip off, that Motorola even make chinese rip off companies look good, if you are in denial i can refresh your memory..
Motorola, design and innovation my ass!
Anonymous, 25 Aug 2008A920 from Motorola was the FIRST;
* 3G smartphone on Symbian OS
* GPS smartphone o... moreDon't think Z8 was Moto's first HSDPA phone, because its own Moto MaxxV3 should be the first. Yes for Symbian based though...
In my opinion, I certainly wish Z8 does NOT run on Symbian...even P2K is fine.
John, 24 Aug 2008boy, Motorola has really lost it, went through the European and Asian company releases on this... moreThose useless devices in your mind absolutely sell more than those so called "smartphones"....and will likely be so for at least another 5~10 years.
I don't care about Nokia. I don't care about Samsung. I don't care about Sony Ericsson. I don't care about LG. I don't care about Camera. I don't care about feature. I care about design, innovations and quality of Motorola.
i guess if Motorola are only going midrange they should come up with better phones because they only have to concentrate on one sector.
As far as i know, the midrange phones of Nokia, Samsung, and Ericsson have better walkman, camera(most of them gone 3.2mp), better design, better interface and memory, i don't care about material, good plastic is fine as long as the phone is up to par, i don't care about no carbon material on a crap phone, oooohhh, wow, big deal, i don't work for Nasa and i'm not leaving orbit, so i don't care if its plastic, steel or carbon, i can make a crap Nokia in pure gold, doesn't mean it's a good phone.
Of course Motorola sells in the states, midrange people need midrange phones and sophisticated people need hightech phones, like in Europe, the only hightech thing in America is NYC, Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Fran, the rest is "howdy mam", "yo man" or "ey carlito".
A920 from Motorola was the FIRST;
* 3G smartphone on Symbian OS
* GPS smartphone on Symbian OS
* Handset with extensive operator customization on Symbian OS
A1000 from Motorola was the FIRST;
* Handset with WiFi on Symbian OS
Z8 from Motorola was the FIRST;
* HSDPA phone in the Motorola portfolio
Z10 from Motorola was the FIRST;
* Handset with video editing built in
The fact is until now Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and LG can't beat Motorola V3 Razr (mid range with standard feature) sales 100 million unit for 3 years. The fact is only Nokia 1110 (low end) can beat Motorola V3 Razr (mid range); how about Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and LG (mid range)? Hahaha...
Look the fact Motorola has great design and quality phone. Motorola V3 Razr use titanium; what about other brand? Using cheap plastic and bulk. Hahaha...
Look now; Nokia has many type of Nokia 8800 and really boring. Sony Ericsson has Sony Ericsson with really similiar design and boring. LG has really slow prosesor phone, boring design and cheap plastic quality. Samsung has just copy design.
John, 24 Aug 2008boy, Motorola has really lost it, went through the European and Asian company releases on this... moreother companies also make device like this with these feature for mid range but they dont have better design like motorola see nokia 3500 and samsung j210 in the midrange totally boring design
boy, Motorola has really lost it, went through the European and Asian company releases on this page like Nokia, Ericsson, Samsung, LG etc, Motorola is joke now, i can't believe American enginering can't make better phones, they are stuck in a time loop, same specs in the phone for 5 years now, and iPhone is a walkman, not a phone, except the touch browser and mp3 player on the apple, it's a useless allround device.
