Helloct, 16 Mar 2010Hi, nice and detailed comment about this phone. I just can't seem too understand why GSMArena ... moreYou are right about the video recording capibility of the ZN5, actually that is the only chink in the armor for the mighty ZN5. Nokia N82 beats ZN5 on video recording capibilty hands down, while ZN5 beats N82 on rest of the features.

I just can't seem too understand why GSMArena did not make a review for this phone. My only deception about this phone is the video resolution capability (recording and playing), it has good quality thought but as a camera phone, it could be better (VGA At 30, 25 or 15fps least). Ok, it's good when playing video in the phone but the problem is that you'll have un contest almost all your video with your PC first. Just my opinion. :)
argentinajuan, 14 Mar 2010hey guys, this is my next mobile so, i was wondering what was the problem that the battery has?... moreThe battery that has been shipping with "new" ZN5's is a cheap version and not an authentic battery. The charge only lasts a few hours of use. I got a replacement Batt from Moto directly and I now get 2-3 days of use before I need to charge.
hey guys, this is my next mobile so, i was wondering what was the problem that the battery has? thank you.

gaurav, 06 Mar 2010i am using motorola zine zn5 for last 2,3 months it has very week battry back up in this price... moreI've had my ZN5 for 1 month and had the same problem with the battery. Upon taking a closer look I noticed the battery that came with the phone was not a GENUINE Motorola one. It was a knock off. I then got a GENUINE Moto battery. The part number is SNN5807B the cell is made in Japan and finished in China. I registered my phone with Motorola and complained about the battery. They sent me a new one at no charge!!!
i am using motorola zine zn5 for last 2,3 months it has very week battry back up in this price range others companies giving good phones with lots of features.10/4
Exceptional mobile phone. Actually I consider it to be the Motorola’s MASTERPIECE.
Motorola is known to manufacture mobile phones with rock solid built quality using top notch & expensive materials like steel, aluminum, mineral glass rather than glossy plastic commonly used by Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG. This has been always been Motorola’s strong point. The ZN5 is no exception either; it is almost built in metal & has a thick mineral glass over the TFT display matrix which is excellent. The set looks a feels like a monolith.
Actually a very famous website www.smape.com did a durability test on ZN5 and in one of their tests they rode over the ZN5 lying in the road on a Honda CRV weighing 2.5 tones. The ZN5 passed with flying colors. Only the mineral glass cover over the display was broken but the mobile phone operated normally receiving calls, playing music etc. I think this is enough of an example of the phone’s durability.
The display in ZN5 is way ahead of the European contenders like Nokia & Sony Ericsson. Actually mobile phones which are manufactured in Japan by Japanese companies have exceptional displays & generally are way better than the European counterparts. Just think about top LCD screen manufactures of the world – Sharp, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, JVC,etc all reside in Japan. Whereas European mobile phone manufactures use TFT displays manufactured by local European companies, Motorola uses TFT display manufactured by Sharp Corporation of Japan.
The phone is all about the camera and it does not disappoint on this ground. Believe me, it is the BEST 5 MP camera currently available on the market today, make no mistake about it. Only the Nokia N82 comes close. On the review of www.mobiset.ru they compared the pictures taken by ZN5 & N82 of a same object (say a poster) under high magnification and found that ZN5’s picture contains higher details and better color saturation than N82. The ZN5 also has Kodak’s Perfect Touch Technology which can make any picture taken look sharper & brighter. Motorola ZN5 is also the industry first to introduce VARIABLE APERTURE technology in the camera unit. ZN5 has the most powerful xenon flash found on any mobile phone till date. It can take pictures at pitch dark with ease because of xenon flash and produce bright pictures.
The hardware found in ZN5 almost represents the hardware of a stealth fighter plane i.e. built to kill its opposition. Running on a Freescale MXC275-30 platform having 532 MHz ARM11 applications processor & 208MHz Digital Signal Processor speaks for itself. Also it has two Image Processing Units (IPU) instead of one, one is the dedicated Freescale IPU that comes with the MXC275-30 platform capable of handling up to 2 Mpix images & the other is Texas Instruments dedicated DM299 IPU which has a ARM7 processor embedded in it capable of handling up to 5 Mpix images. Thus ZN5 have hardware capable of handling 5+2=7 Mpix images and thus can handle image & video much better than any of its 5 Mpix opposition. Internal memory is 512 MB which is huge, no opposition can match that and also you can extend it up to 4GB with a microSD card.
Audio sound quality from the music player is awesome. Believe me some of the renowned Russian websites like www.smape.com, www.mobile-review.com, etc known for their thorough review have told that the ZN5 can challenge the mighty Apple iPod on this ground which, literally speaking is phenomenal for any mobile phone. After using Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung I have to accept that ZN5 is the best when it comes to sound quality. The inbuilt radio has very good reception quality and the sound is crisp and clear. The best radio I have ever seen till date on any mobile phone.
This mobile phone is capable of playing videos of very high bitrates (Higher bitrates means better quality) due to its 2 IPU’s & 208 Mhz DSP. Bitrates as high as 1100 kbps can be played easily.
I cannot stop praising the phone isn’t it!! Lastly one have to remember ZN5 is a smartphone since it comes with an operating system (Linux) and not just a software. So third party software’s and modding options are limitless.

Thomas, 01 Mar 2010It can do a multitasking ,can't it ?
Is there anyone know ?
I wanna buy a new phone ,but its... moreThomas,
Motorola ZN5 can do multitasking. It can handle a java game, internet browsing and read a document at the same time. I have done that. But it is not the king of multitasking, that award goes to Sony Ericsson. Buy Sony Ericsson C901 if multitasking is your primary requirment. C901 have almost same set of features as ZN5.
As for Nokia 5530, it is a touch screen phone. Actually 5300 & ZN5 should never be compared because they belong to different segment.
1) Want the best 5MP camera phone with zenon flash, one of best music player with stonking bass and market leading audio quality, crystal clear radio reception, great built quality to last a decade with somewhat slow user interface -> Motorola ZN5
2) Want one(not the best) 5MP camera phone with zenon flash, one of best music player with a lot of customization options and very good audio quality, very fast user interface and truely multitasking king. -> Sony Ericsson C901
3) Want a great display, touch screen capibility, one of the best audio player & exceptional audio quality, not so good camera-> Nokia 5530
So, now the choice is yours.
It can do a multitasking ,can't it ?
Is there anyone know ?
I wanna buy a new phone ,but its not easy to choose between 5530 or zn5 .neither 5530 nor zn5 isnt use an OS .
If zn5 can do a multitasking ,i'll buy it .in indonesia ,their price is quite same .
Thx a lot !
