I am getting this phone tomorrow form Carphone Warehouse will give a true review cause all these on here arent that helpful!
Here's some links that may help owners of this phone.
You can buy the USB cable for £9.99 delivered from The Link. Here's a URL:
or here for £6.95 delivered:
You will need to download the NEC Mobile Suite and USB driver from their website. The URL is:
Once you this all setup, and it's easy to do, you'll be able to download, upload everything (pictures, movies, wallpapers, ringtones and MP3).
Hope that helps
I was looking into getting this phone, as it seems to have all the features i'm looking for, but i don't seem to be able to find the size of the MP3 player, does any one know?
I find its a very nice phone i love my NEC phone. just one day old very easy to use. but my Question is,why are they not Quadband phones? when i trevel to the Caribbean most of these phones dont work.
Does anyone no where I can buy the USB cable to fit this phone and where to get the software from? Also, does anyone know if file transfer works with a bluetooth headset?
its not a bad phone you can get the usb cables and blutetooth dongles for 9 puonds brand new of ebay , so its a good phone for the price !!1
can anyone tell me how to transfer photos on my phone to my pc which has bluetooth, as their is no mention of how to do so in the instuction manual that came with the phone
This phone has no bluetooth but they say it has, i just got mine 2 days ago from carphone warehouse for £59.99 with orange network, although it's nice cos it's a flip phone and has some other features that I like e.g Irda that works, and other things that I find interesting.
Ok,, so the phone has bluetooth...but u cant send to other phones...but maybe still by IrDA?
I think Bluetooth on this phone is for handsfree only and does not support Bluetooth for data transfer
That's right! The bluethooth is compatible only with the headsets... And no one tells you... BE AWARE!!!!
just rung nec helpline on 0208 9938111 and they confirmed that the bluetooth is only compatable with head sets, you cannot send or recieve data from another phone.im returning mine today and sticking to nokia!!!
Bought the e540 from Carphone Warehouse, arrived yesterday. Can't see what the problem is with the phone. All the features work and are far more than should be on a £49 phone.
Haven't tried the IR mind but not to interested anyway.
'The Link Accessories' sell the USB transfer cable for £9.99. Arrived this morning, price included delivery. It's under NEC N411i.
Menu's will always take some getting used to when coming from another brand. But it only took a lunch break to master them.
The phonebook is easily accessible and far better than my old Nokia.
Both camera and MP3 very easy to access. I prefer the operation of the Camera to my sisters Motorola.
On the whole for a measly £49 it's a great deal.
i agree with the person below i am having the same problems !!!! very dissapointed !!! i advise you not to get this phone !!!!!! :(
just got a e 540 today from carphone warehouse and with bluetooth paired it with my husbands phone, nokia 6230i. it did that fine although we cant send each other anything.also a file of only 1.2 megabytes wont be accepted by infra red as there is not enough room. gave up on trying to send owt phone to phone and ive searched net for data cables. no were has them or knows if there are any!!! is this phone a joke? it may be a bargain but its very disapointing.
KATIE- to send things from ur phone to others via bluetooth or infrared, you first need to activate your connectivity in the connectivity setings depending on if you want to use bluetooth or infrared..then get the other person to activate theirs...select the file you want to send and select send via bluetooth/IRDA(infrared) they should then receive the file,,,if you want them to send to you they do the same!
I'm thinking about getting the e540 but everyone seems to be complaining. can someone tell me what the difference is between the e540 and the n411i. is it a good fone or no? i'm really worried as i really do want to get this phone but i'm scared in case it busts after a few weeks. why is it so cheap?
I have found it quite hard to get the hang of this phone because I have always had a Nokia. I found the NEC helpline really good 0208 9938111 and ask to be put through to the mobile phone section. Most of my problems were due to being on O2 pay as you go. They talked me through changing the settings and even rang me back. For the price it is a bargain
ye it is triband as i already said 3 or 4 posts down!! so it will work in america
